An NBA inter-conference matchup between a top team in the east that is a surprise based on the roster… and a bottom of the barrel team in the West based on their roster.  The Indiana Pacers are growing by leaps and bound behind the talent of the young, 2-way player SG/PG Tyrese Haliburton.  Tyrese is a future all-star and once he gets there will be there for a very long time given health.  Tyreses’s squad is loaded with young talent and an OK amount of veteran starters.   C Myles Turner and SF Buddy Hield were thought to be trade targets for the Lakers for SG Russell Westbrook… but why would the Pacers do that now? Why on earth?  The Pacers are winning because of those two guys and the strong, young backcourt.  The Pacers have multiple picks in the coming NBA draft.. The Pacers will have salary cap space even after working a new deal or a sign and trade with Myles Turner… So why in the heck would they give up winning now to pay Russell Westbrook 40 million to stay away for a year? It makes no logical sense.  Even if the Lakers added picks… None of those picks would factor in for 3-5 seasons.  By that time Tyrese Haliburton will have missed the window of a good roster and will force his way out… so GTFOH.  The Los Angeles Lakers have been steadily improving after starting the season as the worst (15th place) team in the Western Conference… as of press time the Lakers are ALL THE WAY up to 13th place.  The Lakers have been playing better and occasionally winning lately.. But they still have to worry about Anthony Davis’s sore back which will eventually cause him to miss the rest of the season… as he has done many times before.

The Indiana Pacers won their last game against the Brooklyn Nets (we all laugh at the Nets) 128-117. In that win C Myles Turner had 23 points, SF Buddy Hield had 26 points, PG/SG Tyrese Haliburton had 21 points, 15 ASSISTS, and bench player Ben Mathurin had 21 points… This is a good squad.  This is a 4th place in the East squad.  Those cats in Brooklyn got to watch KD hit 36 points, as he continues to play with a dysfunctional squad…. But they did not even challenge the Pacers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a 2–game winning streak and are in fact winners of 5 of their last 6 games!  It has lifted them all the way to 13th place in a 15 team conference.  They won their last game against the San Antonio Spurs… in fact 3 of the Lakers last 4 wins have all been against the San Antonio Spurs… a team that makes absolutely no bones about the fact that they are “tanking” for Victor!  So this winning stretch does not necessarily mean the Lakers have suddenly become good.  In the 143-138 win over the Spurs (to give up 138 to the Spurs is a crime) LeBron James had 39 points, 11 rebounds… PG Dennis Schroder had 21 points, and Sf Lonnie Walker had 19 points… AD did not play.  There is a growing sentiment that the supporting cast of Nunn, Gabriel, Reaves, and Westbrook are better than we all think… Do not buy it.  Coming to life against the 2022 San Antonio Spurs is not an accomplishment at all.  The Pacers have a much better supporting cast and a much better group of starters.

Indiana Pacers VS Los Angeles Lakers Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, November 28th is…. Pacers 118 - Lakers 101

The Pacers will walk over the Lakers to sweep their time in Los Angeles.  The Lakers have NO GUARDS capable of stopping Tyrese Haliburton let alone Andrew Nembhard.  In the paint AD will go against Myles Turner… a guy who literally wants AD’s job. Where else will the Lakers find quality play?

Players To Watch

Pacers: C Myles Turner.  Myles openly begged for the Lakers to trade for him on a podcast.  Now 18 games into the season he is still on the Pacers… and his Pacers’ team is in 4th place while the Lakers team is in 13th place in their respective conferences.  Maybe Myles would love to play with LeBron James?  That would be very nice… but it is important to remember the “one in a hand, two in the bush” expression.  Myles is on a good team with a quality young star.  Will he make the most of it and torch the Lakers?… or will he lay down for the Lakers?

Lakers: C Anthony Davis.  LeBron has missed several games this season… and AD has been either great or a non-factor in those games.  The great AD produces wins… the non-existent AD does not.  AD is supposed to take the reins of this team and ease any burdens on LeBron as they shoot for the final championship of LeBron’s career… but he hasn’t consistently gotten himself to that place.  This is his moment… he is on a near last place team… If he does not recover his form from 4 seasons ago when everyone said he was a top-3 player on the planet?... He never will.  There are too many quality young guys for everyone to keep waiting for Anthony Davis.
