Wow!  An NBA inter conference matchup between a team that is WAY not what we thought they would be (in a good way)… and a team that is WAY not what we thought they would be (in a bad way).  The 2022-23 NBA season has brought several surprises early.  The Indiana Pacers were supposed to be the Chumps of the East looking to get a high draft pick… after all they traded away Domantas Sabonis, their only all-star, in a bid to rebuild quickly… but no one thought it would be this quick.  The working part of the quick rebuild is of course Guard Tyrese Haliburton. A young guy who was the Sacramento Kings best player only Sacramento can never really figure that kind of stuff out.  Tyrese is a solid 2-way player… he can score, he can defend.. He can do them both at a high level.  He supplanted an all-star and has improved the team he joined.  He will be an all-star soon and only health will determine how much he can do for this team.  The Los Angeles Clippers came into the season after Vegas had set NBA Futures that gave them the best odds to win a title… They sure do not look like it.  At the end of last season the Clippers that took the floor were a gritty team of hard playing role players… watching from the bench were the three best scorers on the squad 1) Paul George, 2) Kawhi Leonard, and 3) Norman Powell… all injured.  All of them missed the run where the Clippers role players fought their way into the Play-in tournament.  The thinking was solid… Those other three guys rejoin a gritty squad and suddenly we will have the NBAs best team.  That never really happened.  SG Kawhi Leonard looks like a shot fighter.  He simply does not look ready to ever be a full-time player again.  In the last 10 Clipper games Kawhi has only played in 3 of them while only averaging 10 points per game in 22.4 minutes per game.  He again is missing complete games.  SF Paul George is now the team’s star as he still plays like an all-star.  SG/SF Norman Powell has had a couple of big scoring games, but everything else looks far from the player that kicked off his joining the Clippers last season with 5 straight games of 20+ points.  Norman is averaging 13.8 points per game in just 25.3 minutes per game.  The Clippers only real chance is that maybe Norman is being worked in slowly and will be more part of game plan soon… and that maybe Kawhi Leonard works up the courage to take a buyout and simply medically retire.

The Indiana Pacers beat the Brooklyn Nets in their last game 128-117.  C Miles Turner had 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.  SF Buddy Hield had 26 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists… Those two have frequently been the subject of trade rumors in exchange for RUSSELL WESTBROOK… the thinking is that Indiana should surely want to get out from under their mild contracts to hurry a rebuild… but everything about that idea is TERRIBLE for the Pacers… first the Pacers are playing well with those guys and second even if the Lakers included picks?... Those picks would not convey for 3 years and then 5 years!  Not really a plan for speed huh?... Plus, the team has found a legit star in SG/PG Tyrese Haliburton who had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 15 ASSISTS! In the win over Brooklyn… The absolute last thing a team should do with a legit two-way player potential all-star is detonate their roster and ask that guy to lose for the next few seasons!  The Pacers should publicly state that they plan on keeping their players unless a BIG OFFER for real assets from a real team comes along!  Tyrese news a shooter and a big man it’s that simple.

The Los Angeles Clippers are on a 2-game losing streak.  They have won 6 of their last ten games.  This two game losing streak coincides with Paul George missing 3 games due to a Hamstring problem.  PG-13 is sitting in street clothes next to Kawhi Leonard yet again.  In their last game, a 114-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets, the Clippers shot the ball well everywhere except the foul line where they were only 19 of 34 for 56%... they also lost the rebound battle and they lost the turnover battle. Once again SG/SF, bench scorer Norman Powell was underwhelming with only 11 points in 23 minutes… This is only a couple games since his back to back 25+ point games.  Will the real Norman Powell please stand up!  PG John Wall was the high scorer for the Clippers with 23 points in 23 minutes.  Only two starters scored in double figures and those were PF Marcus Morris SR with 15 and PG/SG/SF Terance Mann with 15. It was a very unbalanced, uncertain attack from a team missing star player Paul George.  It seems no one is really in charge on the floor… or maybe no one wants to take the reins. The Clippers need to get more out of everybody.

Indiana Pacers VS Los Angeles Clippers Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, November 27th is…. Pacers 120 - Clippers 104

The Clippers will be on the receiving end of a blowout.  For the Pacers both Buddy Hield and Myles Turner will want to be on full display as the Los Angeles Lakers play in the same building as the Clippers in front of many of the same fans.  The final part though is that the only two Clippers players that match Tyrese Haliburton in 2-way abilities are Kawhi and PG-13 and they will both be in street clothes.

The Pacers are 12-6 ATS in all games this season.
The Clippers are 5 OVER and 15 UNDER in all games this season.

Players To Watch

Pacers: SG Tyrese Haliburton.  Take a look at what I have been crowing about.  The kid is a real soon all-star.  You might as well get a look now.

Clippers: PG John Wall.  After missing lots of time while injured,...  then Houston refused to play him while they were tanking… John Wall has stepped back into the NBA looking real and ready to play.  He is not the player he once was… He barely makes 12% of his old salary… but he is still very effective on a basketball court.

Coaches

Pacers: Rick “Witness Protection place me here” Carlisle
Clippers: Tye “I volunteered for this sh*t” Lue
