An inter-conference NBA battle between the East’s 5th place team and the West’s 6th place team… Oh and last season the East’s team finished near last place, while the West’s team won the Championship.  Got it?.... Ready, Go.  The Indiana Pacers have been doormats for a few seasons now. They have been a team with enough on the roster to fall short of expectations… yet too much to pull a full rebuild.  Then in the middle of last season the Pacers traded their best player C/PF Domanta Sabonis the Sacramento Kings for SG Tyrese Haliburton, some players and picks.  The Pacers won that trade.  Yes, the Kings have been playing better than they have for several years… but so have the new Pacers… with new star and former King PG/SG Tyrese Haliburton… who is beginning to look like a franchise star.  Plus the Pacers got players and picks… and gave up salary… and are now winning and scoring.  The Golden State Warriors won last season’s NBA Championship.  It was the rebirth of the Golden State Dynasty after a few years of player injury and high salary… that brought them a few years of great NBA draft picks… Plus they pulled a trade by moving bench  pieces from that former dynasty to get SF Andrew Wiggins.  The right things broke and the Warriors are winners again!  The best type of winners… winners with rings.  The thinking was that all those young guys… Poole, Moody, Kuminga, and Wiseman would take over the team as the aging triumvirate of Steph, Klay and Draymond got them in the winners circle.  The youth movement failed.  Wiseman and Kuminga are disappointments… Polle is already too expensive… and Moody is sometimes loud and sometimes quiet. The Warriors are still quite good… and the youngins could come around with just a little more coaching and experience?... but we are waiting with baited breath.

The Indiana Pacers have been riding a high of having the best young franchise player in Haliburton and the possible rookie of the year in 6th man and backup SG Benjamin Mathurin… add to that mix another great young guard in Andrew Nembhard and you have the makings of a great team… a team that will desperately need some small forwards?... but still a possible great team.  They lost their last game to the Utah Jazz 139-119.  In that game Andrew Nembhard had 13 pints and 10 assists… Haliburton had 14, 6, 4 ans Center Myles Turner had 18 points… This is where the Pacers have decisions to make… Myles went on a podcast and asked to be traded even though he was currently on the best team, with the best teammates, he has ever been on in his 5 year NBA career. SF Buddy Hield is a quality shooting guard that is playing out of position at small forward and the roster does not supply him with much relief…. So if a trade is coming the Pacers need to give up a Center and a shooter to get back a small forwards and a cheaper Center… and they MUST not give up draft picks… BTW Los Angeles will not give anything of substance back unless it is from the Clippers.

The Warriors are on a 2-game winning streak… It is what has kept them relevant over the last week.  They are 5-1 ATS over their last 6 games.  The Warriors don;t have secrets… Curry is the best scorer in the league when he is hitting shots which is often… Draymond Green is the best mix of defense and positive stats that aren’t scoring in the league at the PF spot… all they ever need is a 3rd and 4th guy to have good games.  Those guys are undoubtedly Wiggins and Thompson.  That leave the big question mark of whether all the young guys will be improving or whether they all will be the key to a big trade?  The Warriors beat Houston in their last game 120-101… everyone is supposed to beat Houston EXCEPT the Pistons or Magic… all those teams are a cabal of worthlessness hellbent on tanking for the #1 pick.  The inner of the tanking will ultimately become winners in real games.

Our prediction for Monday, December 5th is….  Warriors 123 - Pacers 122

Players To Watch

Pacers: PG/SG Tyrese Haliburton.  Halibirton is a curveball thrown at the whole league.  He is a franchise lead guard.  He is making a case for that with every game… even the nad games have fantastic stat lines.  Take a look as he plays his heart out.

Warriors: PG Steph Curry.  The best shooter in league history will give us 4-6 more years given health.  Keep watching… lots of records will fall.  Maybe some more rings will be earned.  The cool will never stop.

Coaches

Pacers: Rick “I got a ring with Dallas” Carlisle
Warriors: Steve “I got all the others” Kerr
