A Western Conference NBA battle between two teams that have been going different directions in the last few weeks and will most likely meet in the middle.  The Golden State Warriors started off badly and have been slightly improving… This is after a season where they won the National Championship and reawoke a dynasty.  The Utah Jazz finished last season out of anything important and traded away their two best assets in SG Donovan Mitchel and C Rudy Gobert… and surprisingly with the players and picks they got back.. They shot to #1 in the Western Conference… then reality set in and they have been dropping like a lead balloon.  What is the great betting opportunity here?  The old heads that have been performing badly? Or the young pups who have a lot of untapped talent?

The Golden State Warriors lost their last game (as predicted here), but have won 3 of their last 5 games.  The tenuous hold they have on 9th place in the Western Conference is sad considering these are the defending Champs. The Warriors and the world thought they had reignited a dynasty when they won it all last season and had a plethora of young talent to draw from… It turns out that young talent is falling very short.  Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody, and Poole were supposed to lift the triumvirate of firtire Hall Of Famers into the next stratosphere… they have not.  SF Andrew Wiggins is the only outlier in the bunch.. And no matter how well he plays, the Warriors can not seem to win. If I were the Indiana Pacers I would trade for Wiggins at once… and if the Warriors wouldn’t part with Wiggins I would take Kuminga… and if the Warriors wouldn’t part with Kuminga I would say “have a nice life”... because I’m from the South and that means they won’t. They lost their last game to the Indiana Pacers 112 - 104.. In that game Klay Thompson had 28 points, Poole had 23 points and everyone else came up very short.

The Utah Jazz came out of the gate hot and then imploded.  They are on a 5-game losing streak.  It is the sort of losing streak that takes a team out of first place and lands them back in the Victor Wembenyama discussion considering that is where they were before the season. Several Pacers chat rooms have speculated the losing is calculated… like the coach and the front office have decided on it.. But really it is a matter of other teams figuring out who is on the floor and not being surprised that Markkanen and Sexton are good players. Once you have that down.. You can play them correctly. They lost their last game to Portland 116-111… In that Game JOrdan Clarkson had 24 points, Lauri Markanen had 21 points and the team fell short. Collin Sexton’s 19 points is moot since Sexton is best off the bench as a 6th man… BUT starting PG Mike Conley has been out with injury to his leg.

Golden State Warriors VS Utah Jazz Prediction

Our prediction for Wednesday, December 7th is…. Jazz 112 - Warriors 110

Bet on the Warriors. The spread is almost ridiculous! -7.5 on the road against the defending Champs.  I don't care who wins.. The difference is -7.5 for the Jazz and that is not right.  If the Jazz win it will be against a big game from the Warriors that covers the spread. If the jazz do not it will be because they don’t have nearly the defense of the Warriors.

Players To Watch

Warriors: PF Draymond Green. Draymond is a future first ballot Hall Of Famer.  Draymond gets stats that are purely basketball awesome. He score a little but he rebounds, steals, blocks, and definitely assists… while playing great defense on the lower block.  Let’s not play games here Draymond is the heart of the Warriors.

Jazz: SF Lauri Markkanen.  Lauri falls into the draft bust list because it took him several seasons to become fully healthy and productive… he was also an imported teenager when all of that was happening. The current Lauri Markkanen is a real deal NBA all-star who can make or break any team.

Coaches

Warriors: Steve “all the rings” Kerr
Jazz: Will” card me at the bar” Hardy
