An inter-conference battle between 2 bad teams. That is odd to write since the Golden State Warriors are the defending Champions! Yet the Golden State Warriors are losing and losing and losing. They find themselves in 12th place in the Western Conference… yuck. What exactly is going wrong there?... PG Steph Curry is averaging 30 pts… oh and then everyone else is falling below their last season averages or career averages. It’s a conundrum for a team paying hundreds of millions of dollars in the luxury tax… If it keeps up?.. The Warriors will be forced to make some trades before it gets out of hand. The Magic are again a team hunting for lottery ping pong balls through losses. It’s that plain and simple. The Magic are again missing several players to “Out Indefinitely”... like PG Markelle Fultz, PF Jonathan Isaac, and SG Gary Harris… but who cares?... the team didn’t win when those guys did play. A close look at last games line-up ( a 116 - 108 loss to the terrible Thunder) shows a starting five where all 5 players were playing out of position…. Oh and also Jalen Suggs and RJ Hampton haven’t cracked the starting five. That sort of thing might make it likely that the starting five would be playing IN natural positions. It leaves the average person wondering what are they doing?... It leaves the expert saying “They are losing on purpose”. Who is right?... The expert.
The Golden State Warriors are on a 3-game losing streak. They have fallen to the 12th spot in the Western Conference. Yes, it is a long season… but holy hell this is a bad start. The team has always been known for electric shooting and tough defense… In fact they have been and could still be a dynasty. At the moment the Warriors defensive numbers are bottom of the barrel… a murky 29th in defending points and 19th in defensive rebounds… isn’t Draymond Green the heart of the defense?... Didn’t Draymond open the season by punching a teammate while throwing a fit about his future contract? It is clear when watching this team that Klay and Draymond should yield their starting spots to the young Warriors who are waiting on the bench. These guys are a step slow. The worst thing in sports is to live in the past.. The Big three of Steph, Klay, and Draymond has become Steph, Jordan, and Wiggins. Until that reality is embraced… The Warriors will keep losing. Except to the Magic.
The Orlando Magic are bad. They are also making a franchise killing mistake. They have been hunting good draft positions for what feels like a decade now. They have been awful since DWIGHT HOWARD left for the Lakers! That is a long time to be awful. The problem with tanking is that the lottery doesn’t always reward you… the other problem is that many many draft picks become MISSES. An example may be SG RJ Hampton, PG Markelle Fultz (definite miss at #1 by the 76ers), SG Jalen Suggs, PG Cole Anthony, PF Jonathan Isaac, C Wendell Carter JR… all on the Magic roster whether the Magic drafted them or traded for them. The truth about drafting in the NBA is you hit some and you miss some. Guys like Donovan Mitchell, Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo are found by other teams outside of the Lottery favorites… while the perennial bad teams keep loading guys who don’t make a difference with top-five picks. The Magic did one thing right lately. PF Paolo Banchero is the exact right guy… averaging 21, 7.6 and 3.6 in his first 8 NBA games! So the path to bettering the Magic should be a wholesale building of this team around THIS guy… They shouldn’t wait for THE NEXT GUY… cause if they miss?... They will be breaking THIS guy.

Golden State Warriors vs Orlando Magic Prediction
Our prediction for Thursday, November 3rd is…. Warriors 118 - Magic 108
The Magic can’t score and the Warriors can. The Warriors are on a 3-game losing streak, but losing to the magic (even ATS) is a bridge too far for a defending Champ. Yes, the Magic are doing ok on defense this season… but the lack of scoring makes the Warriors a safe bet.

Players To Watch
Warriors: SF Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins opened the season with three straight 20+ point games… then had four below his level outings… and then recovered for a 21 point game in the loss to the Heat. He may be returning to form and will be going against a rookie defender.
Magic: C Wendell Carter Jr. This guy is 16.5 pts and 9.5 rbs in 32 minutes. Not bad. He is one of those guys that completely baffles you to think he is already in his 6th season and we are still trying to figure out if he is an NBA player that should start anywhere. If the Magic land the #1 pick this year… Wendell has journeyman written all over the rest of his career.
Coaches
Warriors: Steve “all the rings” Kerr
Magic: Jamahl “who” Mosley
