An Eastern Conference matchup between the worst and the best the conference has to offer.  The Detroits Pistons are in a very odd spot… they have a couple of pieces that could be used to build a great team… in the future.  The thing that would really put them over the top would be… um.. Drafting 7’4 French Teenager Victor Wembanyama… That guy is billed as half Kevin Garnett and Half Kevin Durant and a full transformative player!  The hype is huge now and will only grow louder.  The delicate balance of course is how to make it through this season while getting proper development for young studs PG Cade Cunningham, PF/C Jalen Duran, and SG Jaden Ivey?... They do not want to win, but they also do not want to break these kids spirits with a never ending nightmare of losing.  Such is life in Detroit.  The Milwaukee Bucks are in a GREAT position.  They have the game's best player in PF Giannis Antetokounmpo and he is surrounded by a capable roster.  To make matters better the Nets, 76ers, and Heat are all struggling early… maybe all those teams are imploding?… Sure, that leaves the Celtics and the  Cavs?... Hawks?  It is a pretty wide open shot for Giannis to get to the Finals if things keep going the way they are.

The Detroit Pistons lost their very last game to the Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee 110 - 108… now they have to turn around and do it again.  Bettors can console themselves that the Pistons covered the Spread big time.  But the Pistons players don’t care… They just took another loss.  An interesting development has been the playing time for rookie PF/C Jalen Duran.  The kid had 14 points and 10 boards in the very first game of the season which was also the Pistons only win. He seems impactful when he plays, but they won’t give him more than 18 - 20 minutes a game.  So he keeps hitting numbers like 6 and 8, 7 and 9, 8 and 10… Simple math may tell you that he could be 20 pts 16 rbs a game if they just started him.  He is leading the team in blocked shots…. But for some reason they want to bring him along slowly and they don’t often play him with Cade Cunningham.  That is an obvious tanking tactic. Bring him along slowly and spring him on the league next year coupled with another great draft pick.

The Milwaukee Bucks have not lost a game this season!  They are 6-0 and happy.  The last game against Detroit is tied with the 76ers for closest game with the Bucks only getting a 2 point win… the other 4 games have all been double digit wins.  MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks with a fiery 33.8 points per game, and leads the team with a passionate 12.8 rebounds per game, AND leads the team in FG percentage with 58.9%... The guys around him just have to man their positions… they just have to play smart basketball and Giannis will bring home the win.  At PG Jrue Holiday gets 8.3 assists per game with solid defense and at C Brook Lopez nabs 3.3 blocked shots per game with a solid 15.3 pts and 6.8 rebounds per game. The crazy part about this start is that SF Khris Middleton, SG Pat Connaughton, and SF Joe Ingles have all been out this entire time with injury… meaning this undefeated team only has to hold on for a few weeks until they start getting talented reinforcements!  They will get better!

Detroit Pistons vs Milwaukee Bucks Prediction

Our prediction for Wednesday, November 2nd is….  Bucks 123 - Pistons 100

The Pistons came close last game.  They really did.  They won’t be able to do it again. Last game was Giannis' worst of the season with only 31-7-2.  It also was Giannis’s 2nd lowest number of minutes in a 2022-23 game.  Technically it was Giannis’s rest game as he only got 30 minutes on the floor.  A few more minutes in this game and the Pistons won’t be able to hang with the Bucks.  Plus the kids on the Pistons will be emotionally spent like kids get at the end of a 3 trip to a new city.  Bet on the Bucks. Have no fear of the spread.

NBA Betting Trends

Detroit is 85-75 ATS in all games the last 3 seasons.
The Bucks are 5-1 ATS when the total is greater or equal to 220.
The Bucks are 25-18 ATS as a favorite of 10 points or more the last 3 seasons.

Players To Watch

Pistons: PF Saddiq Bey. Saddiq has scored as many as 28 points and as little as 6 points in games this season.  He is truly a yo-yo with 3 20+ point games and 3 single digit games.

Bucks: C Brook Lopez.  He was thought to be done just a few years ago.  Yet this old man keeps pouring in positive stats and single handedly gets .01 more blocks per game than the entire Pistons team.

Coaches

Pistons: Dwayne “still here” Casey
Bucks: Mike “look at my ring” Budenholzer
