A Western Conference battle “for all the marbles”... No it won’t decide who wins the West or even who advances in the playoffs… But it is a major test of the Sacramento Kings.  The Kings are in 2nd place in the West with only 17 games left to play in the season… and this is after missing the playoffs for the last 2 decades!  Wow! Uncharted territory.  Yet no one expects more of this team.. The Kings are not among the list of teams with nice odds to win the NBA championship or even nice odds to make the Western Conference Finals.. So this is the ultimate test.. Can the Kings go on the road against the 4th place team, that is only 2 games behind them, and leave with a W and a full 3 game lead on that team?  The Suns on the other hand were quickly dubbed “the favorites to win it all!!”.. When they added the NBA’s best pure scorer in SF Kevin Durant at the trade deadline.  This stacked team was supposed to immediately roll the competition.. And when Kevin joined the line-up after a week of waiting for medical clearance.. They did roll the competition. Then Kevin got hurt in warmups and will now miss most likely the final 3 weeks of the regular season.  The Suns have a stacked roster to begin with even without Kevin because of Booker, Paul, and Ayton… but they will want to stay in the top 4 to get an early home court advantage for Kevin’s eventual return? So which of these teams will dig deep and find the great betting advantage now?

The Sacramento Kings have won 8 of their last 10 games… They went 7-3 ATS during that stretch.  They won their last game over the explosive New York Knicks 122-117. In that win they got 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists from C Domantas Sabonis.. And 23 points & 7 assists from PG De’Aaron Fox… That is the starting formula for a Kings win.. The necessary next ingredient is quality play … form SG Kevin Huerter and PF Keegan Murray.. Both those guys actually had off nights… So bench F Trey Lyles came in and gave 16 points to the cause and bench G Malik Monk poured in 19 points in 19 minutes of play!  That is supporting the stars.  It is also why the Kings are overlooked too much.. They are deeper than anyone realizes… something they never were for 2 decades.

The Phoenix Suns have won 7 of their last 10 games and are currently on a 4-game winning streak.  They went 7-2-1 ATS during that stretch.  They won their last game against the undermanned youth oriented Oklahoma City Thunder 132-101.  In that win the Suns got 44 points from SG Devin Booker who was reminding everyone that he was with the team before Kevin Durant and he will keep them all afloat until Kevin returns.  It also helped quite a bit that SG Terrance Ross came off the bench to do a Kevin Durant impression from the SF position with 24 points in 23 minutes!

Sacramento Kings VS Phoenix Suns Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, March 11th is…. Kings 122 - Suns 120

Bet on the Kings.  The Kings did not get to 2nd place in the West by accident.  They should find it a smack in the face that they are 4 point underdogs.  You can take those 4 points and put them in your pocket even if the Suns pull out a close one at home.. You still get the money.

NBA Betting Trends

The Kings are 3-1 ATS versus the Suns in Phoenix the last 3 seasons.
The Kings are 12-4 ATS revenging a same season loss this season.
The Suns are 9-1 ATS versus division opponents this season.

Players To Watch

Kings: PF Keegan Murray.  Keegan is having a perfect rookie season.  He is a very valuable starting piece for a surprise 2nd place team!  He also is causing NBA GMs to look deeply at his brother Khris who is the same size and has a close skill set and will be in this coming draft. He is doing himself and his family proud every time he takes the court.

Suns: PG Chris Paul.  Chris is still great.  He controls lots of aspects of the game.. But the one he tries most to control is the pace.  This will be very difficult to do when the opposing PG is De’Aaron Fox… Fox is simply one of the quickest guys in the league.  We will see if Chris can handle that speed at his advanced age.

COACH

Kings: Mike “it's all gravy” Brown
Suns: Monty “what’s gravy?” Williams
