An inter-conference battle of playoff teams.  Although there is a chance the Nets drop-out of range… They haven’t been playing that way.  So for now this is a battle of 6th place in the East and 2nd place in the West.  The Sacramento Kings should not be underdogs in this game (spoiler alert).  They didn’t accidentally stumble into 2nd place in the Western Conference… they simply won their way there.  Going against the last 18 years of Kings basketball… it turns out this season they have a solid winning basketball team.  They harken back to the late 90’s early 2000 Kings that had a strong Center with a strong point guard… great shooting wings and some Dawgs coming off the bench… They also have a rookie PF that is playing sooo much better than the standard issue rookie.  The Brooklyn Nets performed a sudden makeover at the NBA trade deadline.. Jettisoning 2 of their 3 Max Contracts for players and picks.  Yes, they got stuck with the third Max Contract… and they may never get out from under it… but they still picked up usable pieces and some glimpses of a bright future.  That is hard to say about any team that loses Kevin Durant… but this time it appears to be the case.  The great betting opportunity here is in knowing full well that the well-rounded Kings should not be road underdogs to the Nets.

The Sacramento Kings have won 8 of their last 10 games.  They went 7-3 ATS during that stretch.  The two teams they lost to were Milwaukee and Minnesota.. Minnesota was the second of a back to black and Milwaukee is a great team.  They won their last game against the Chicago Bulls 117-114… in that one they were slight road favorites.  In the win they got 14 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists (with a steal and a block) from C Domantas Sabonis, they also got 32 points from lightning quick PG De’Aaron Fox.  The magic of this team is the support the two stars get.  Rookie PF Keegan Murray landed 9 points & 10 rebounds while playing great defense… SF Harrison Barnes landed 17 points… SG kevin Huerter scored 15 points… and Kevin’s backup SG Malik Monk scored 19 points in 23 minutes of play.  This is a well rounded team.

The Brooklyn Nets have won 5 of their last 10 games.  Pretty good considering the sudden turnover at almost every starting roster spot that encompasses just the last 10 games.  They went 7-3 ATS during that stretch.. As they kept several losses close.  They lost their last game to the OKC Thunder (as predicted here) 121-107.  In the loss they got 34 points from SG Mikal Bridges and 23 points from SF Cameron Johnson.. Both guys came over from Phoenix in the Durant trade.  PF Dorian Finney-Smith had a horrible shooting night and scored only 5 points… he is still a great defender but may not be ready for offensive responsibilities until he shakes off the feeling of having played his career alongside Luka Doncic. (meaning he never used to even touch the ball)

NBA Betting Trends

The Kings are 15-10 ATS as an underdog this season.
The Nets are 2-0 ATS versus Sacramento in Brooklyn the last 3 seasons.

Players To Watch

Kings: C Domantas Sabonis.  Domantas is starting to turn triple doubles into the commonplace instead of the rarity.  The son of Arvydus has clearly risen to franchise player/All-Star status. He does so many things well that he can hurt an opponent even when he is not scoring well.  That is a rare trait that is only shared by a handful of pro ballers.

Nets: SG/SF Mikal Bridges.  Mikal is free of the Suns roster which is a double edged sword.  He is free of deferring and free of certain expectations.  Now he must prove he can be the top-dog on a team that many assume will be rebuilding… but if you look around at the talent on the roster?... Maybe they don’t have to take very long?

COACH

Kings: Mike “doing well” Brown
Nets: Jacque “at an early crossroads” Vaughn
