An inter conference NBA battle between the the Eastern Conference’s #3 team and the Western Conference’s #5 team… except the West team has really been struggling.  The Philadelphia 76ers have been winning at a very solid clip.  They are true contenders this season as long as the health of C Joel Embiid holds up.  Recently the team’s health has taken some dings as PG James Harden and C Joel Embiid missed a few games and have been consistently listed as Day to Day… The result has been going 2-2 over their last 4 games… but seeing as they won all six games before that?... They are still in a very good position over their last ten games… and still cruising to the playoffs with a home court advantage in the opening round.  The Phoenix Suns are gut shot.  They made a trade at the deadline to land SF Kavin Durant, the league’s best pure scorer… and after waiting for him to return from an injury he arrived with?... He got injured again.  To make matters worse the Suns gave up a couple of very key pieces to get Durant AND C Deandre Ayton got injured recently as well.  So a Suns team that is suddenly without much depth is also missing Durant and Ayton along the front line… The results have been disastrous.  The Suns are 1-6 over their last 7 games and threatening to plummet in the standings if they don’t get some relief or good news soon.  The great betting opportunity here is to simply recognize the massive disadvantage the Suns are at… The fact that they are home favorites is laughable.

The Philadelphia 76ers have won 8 of their last 10 games.  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  The Sixers have suffered in a few games without their leader and best player C Joel Embiid… but he is slated for 2nd game of a  return against the Suns without anyone on the Suns capable of guarding him.  The 76ers lost their last game against the Golden State Warriors 120-112. In the loss no one could blame Joel Embiid as he logged a massive statline of 46 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.  SF Tobias Harris had 23, 6, 6… and SG Tyrese Maxey had 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.  They were let down by a discombobulated defense that could not slow the Warriors… while PF PJ Tucker had 0 points on a bad shooting night and PG (filling in for James Harden) De’Anthony Melton had 8 points on a bad shooting night.  The bench disappointed as well.

The Phoenix Suns have won 4 of their last 10 games and are on a horrible 3-game losing streak. They went 3-7 ATS during that stretch as they are consistently a bad bet.  They lost their last game to the Sacramento Kings 135-127… They had no trouble scoring but could not stop the Kings (as predicted here).  In the loss they got 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists from SG Devin Booker… 30 points from SG/SF Terrence Ross off the bench in 27 minutes of play… and 15 points & 13 assists from PG Chris Paul.  They could not stop the Kings starting five that had 27 points, 23 points, 13 points, 29 points, and 19 points… The Kings only needed a little help from the bench and they got it.

Philadelphia 76ers VS Phoenix Suns Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, March 25th is…. 76ers 130 - Suns 99

Blow out alert.  The Suns are exhausted… Chris Paul and Devin Booker have been killing themselves with enormous effort game after game and it results in loss after loss.  Without Ayton the Suns will have to watch Joel Embiid drop 40-50 points while controlling the boards… also SF Tobais Harris will have a free lunch against Josh Okogie.  The Suns have that great backcourt but at the moment NOTHING ELSE.

NBA Betting Trends

Phoenix is 2-0 ATS versus the 76ers in Phoenix the last 3 seasons.
The 76ers are 20-6 ATS when the line is +3 to -3 this season.

Players To Watch

76ers: C Joel Embiid.  Joel had a massive game in his first game back as he is really pushing for the MVP award.  In this game he will have the same motivation… against a couple of guys that will never be starters in this league!  It will be a sight to see.

Suns: SF Josh Okogie. Josh is undersized at 6’4 to even be a modern SG (his natural position).  The Suns are currently starting him at SF to try and fill the shoes of Kevin Durant, Cameron Johnson, Mikal Bridges… you know the actual small forwards the Suns roster is used to playing with.  The results are disastrous.

COACH

76ers: Doc “Mr Old Man” Rivers
Suns: Monty “All Class… All The Time” Williams
