A Western Conference matchup between two terrible teams… but it is not even close. Just because the OKC Thunder have a bad record… you should not be fooled into thinking they are a bad team. The Thunder are a young team.. The Thunder are a team that is in the middle of a “building process”.. As a result they have inexperienced guys playing PF and C.. and they do often get beat. However they do have the best young backcourt in the NBA… Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Josh Giddey will rule this entire league very soon. They only need a few improvements to the team’s power positions and depth. That is also not to say that Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams (no relation) aren’t good… they are just young… and when they are replaced by C Chet Holmgren and whoever is drafted or traded for to be the new PF… The Williams boys will actually become that quality depth coming off the bench instead of a couple of inexperienced starters. The San Antonio Spurs on the other hand are very terrible. They emptied the shelves the last few years for draft picks and cap space in hopes of pulling off a rebuild. At the moment that rebuild centers around the hope of winning C Victor Wembanyama in the Draft Lottery… they will need to keep losing to keep that a reality. If they do not land Victor they will find themselves in a desolate place indeed. The great betting opportunity here is knowing that the Thunder will have the best 2 players on the court and 4 of the best 5 players on the court.

They won their last game against the New Orleans Pelicans 110-96… getting 35 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists from budding superstar and legit top ten player in the league PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They also got 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists from SG Josh Giddey who is really a 6’7 PG. Add in 17 points from PF Jalen Williams and the Thunder walked away with it.

In the win over the first place Nuggets, The Spurs managed to get past Denver Center Nikola Jokic who had another triple double (37,11,11) in 38 minutes and exploited a bad Denver shooting night. The Spurs had 7 players in double figures with SF Keldon Johnson getting 23 points, bench player SF Doug McDermott getting 20 points, and PF Jeremy Sochan pouring in 19 points… It was an odd game since the Spurs never really felt in charge of it until they pulled away at the end as the shooting percentages swung different directions.
