Another interconference matchup in a night of East VS West. The last game on the slate is unfortunately a predictable mismatch. The New York Knicks have been playing really well as they coast toward a playoff spot. The Portland Trail Blazers have been playing terrible as they coast toward the NBA Draft Lottery… Both teams are accomplishing this season’s goals while neither are exactly in the catbird seat. The New York Knicks have a winning formula that starts with PF Julius Randle, PG Jalen Brunson and finishes with high energy and athleticism from RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson. The unfortunate part of the plan is that that mix is fine but can’t beat the top echelon stars of the league. The Portland Trail Blazers can win games sometimes… but they have a broken roster waiting for direction so they often lose. Dropping below the Lakers, Pelicans, Jazz, and Thunder in the standings… in very quick fashion is impressive. Leaves them in a good draft position. They will not fall lower… The Spurs and Rockets have them beat at losing. The great betting opportunity here is knowing that the Blazers will lose and determining by how much?
The New York Knicks have won 7 of their last 10 games. They went 7-3 ATS in that stretch.. Yes, all wins ATS in wins and all losses ATS in the losses. They won their last game against the Los Angeles Lakers 112-108. In the win they got 33 points from PF Julius Randle and 30 points from SF RJ Barrett. A quick dominant 2 guy attack that easily beat a Lakers team without LeBron James. Knicks Center Mitchell Robinson got dominated by Lakers Center Anthony Davis.. But a win is a win.
The Portland Trail Blazers have won only 3 of their last 10 games. They went 4-5-1 ATS during that stretch. They also officially hit the point of no return. From here on only losses will do them any good. That is how the draft works. They lost their last game to the New Orleans Pelicans 127-110. In the loss they got 7 blazers in double figures but no one scored more than 17 points (Anfernee Simons).. And PG Damian Lilliard did not play. They also could do nothing to stop the surprising 41 point game from Pelicans SF Trey Murphy III. The Blazers are in shut down mode and should only be bet on in the last few weeks of the regular season if they play the Rockets or the Pistons.

A quality power forward committed to his city and family and personal perfection. He is not a superstar in the league but a star? YES. Watch him dominate night in and night out… and wonder why two franchises thought that two in the hand was better than Randle in the Bush?
Blazers: SG Anfernee Simons. He is the replacement for CJ McCollum. He may even be the reason it was thought to be OK to trade McCollum. He shoots the ball well and is super quick. YAY! However, he is small. I don’t know if you have been watching the rest of the league but the day of the BIG guard is upon us with Gilgeous-Alexander, Giddey, Haliburton, Barnes, Ball, Doncic, and 3-4 more 6’5 plus skill guards entering the league in the coming draft. Why are the Blazers always content to play yesterday’s basketball?
