A Western Conference battle with something very serious on the line for the 5th place Clippers.  The Memphis Grizzlies have had a fair share of strife and struggle this season with POg Ja Morant catching a few injuries along the way… and then capping it all off with a publicly embarrassing 8-game suspension for posing with a gun at a strip club at 4 AM in Denver Colorado.  It leads to tense times.  However… Last season’s playoff darlings, with one of the best young starting fives in the NBA, are still in 2nd place in the West and assuredly will have home court advantage in the first round and possibly the second round of the postseason.  The Los Angeles Clippers have disappointed the league and their fans all throughout this season.  After starting the year as Vegas’s preseason favorite to win it all?... The Clippers had yet another season where they struggled to keep Kawhi Leonard and Paul George healthy and on the floor.  They also had some upheaval as they could not get the point guard spot figured out.. So they picked up PG Russell Westbrook after he was traded away from the Lakers and then waived by the Jazz. Yes, that Russell Westbrook.  The much maligned former league MVP who has taken all the blame for the Lakers struggles over the last 2 seasons.  The Clippers need this game more than anything… The Clippers are in 5th place essentially tied with the Phoenix Suns who are in 4th place… If they could find a way to get past the Suns before the regular season comes to an end just (5 games away)... They too could get at least 1 home playoff stand. The great betting opportunity here is just a straight up: who is better right now?

The Los Angeles Clippers have won 7 of their last 10 games.  They went 7-3 ATS during that stretch.  They won their last game against THESE SAME Memphis Grizzlies 141-132 in Memphis… That makes this game the dreaded do-over! That is why the Clippers have swelled from 2 point underdogs on the road to 5.5 point favorites while still on the road against the same team.  In the win they got 36 points & 10 assists from PG Russell Westbrook, 27 points from PF Robert Covington off the bench, and 20 points 5 rebounds, and 6 assists from PG Bones Hyland off the bench (in just 20 minutes).. The amazing thing is that neither Kawhi nor PG-13 played at all.  Russell got the win! He matched Ja’s production and upped him an assist!

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 8 of their last 10 games.  They went 4-5-1 ATS during that stretch.  Even while winning it does look like there's something wrong since they lost ATS to teams like Orlando, San Antonio, and Houston while winning the games.  They lost their last game against THESE SAME Los Angeles Clippers 141-132. In the loss PG Ja Morant had 36 points & 9 rebounds and SF Dillon Brooks had 30 points & 6 rebounds… but SG Desmond Bane was OUT and C Steven Adams was OUT… and the bench gave them practically nothing.

Clippers: PG Russell Westbrook.  Coming off his biggest game as a Clipper (small sample size)... He has given the Clipper fan base some hope.  If Russ can keep getting big games?.. The sky's the limit… and if Russ can’t?... and Bones Hyland CAN?.. The Clippers get even more hope. Russ did not fit with LeBron and AD… BUT both Kawhi and Paul George are the missing shooters from the Lakers failed experiment.. So maybe Russ can make it happen when HE is surrounded by shooters?

Grizzlies:  SF Dillon Brooks.  Dillon is capable of big games and is securely the third most important player in a Grizzlies uniform… However he is also capable of tantrums and technicals and ejections, and an attitude that causes fights.  He may be a powder keg?… But he is a very talented powder keg.
