A Western Conference conundrum.  The Golden State Warriors are in 7th place in the West and are on the verge of being a tough out in the playoffs… especially considering they are the defending NBA Champs.  This season has been rough though. On the road the Warriors are terrible… on the injury list the Warriors have been missing key pieces for most of the season. The Warriors roster is made up of two key groups… The trio of Steph, Klay and Draymond who have Hall of Fame credentials and 4 titles… and a young group that haven’t entirely lived up to the expectations of an earlier promise.  The key take away for the Warriors though is they desperately need SF Andrew Wigghins back and healthy.  The Memphis Grizzlies are in 3rd place in the West.  They are uber talented.  Last season they were a wonderful surprise to the NBA as they advanced in the playoffs behind the very athletic and young group of assassins.  This season the have regressed to circus sideshows.  PG Ja Morant will be missing his last game of an 8 game suspension for frolicking on social media with guns and strippers and just generally being a douchebag… so much for the next face of the league.. Here comes Victor Wembanyama.  But also SF Dillon Brooks has a bigger argument than game in him. Fighting, cussing, and just generally being the turd in the punchbowl for his franchise.  Plus C Steven Adams has been injured and absent.  The Grizzlies are in 3rd place but they are rudderless at the moment.  The great betting opportunity here is obscured.  You can tell by Vegas decreeing this a 1-2 point spread in favor of the home team.  That is normally reserved for even matchups?... Not 3rd versus 7th in the same conference.

The Golden State Warriors have won 5 of their last 10 games but are on a 2-game losing streak.. Both on the road.  They went 5-5 ATS during that stretch. In order for the Warriors to ever be taken seriously they will need to win a road game.  They lost their last game 127-119 against the Atlanta Hawks.  In the loss they got 31 points from PG Steph Curry, 18 points from C Kevon Looney, and 18 points from SF Donte DiVincenzo… Green did not play, Wiggins did not play.  They lost.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 5 of their last 10 games. They are sitting in the shame of Morant’s actions and have really stopped playing quality team ball.  They won their last game against the San Antonio Spurs 126-120 in overtime.  The Spurs are truly one of the worst teams in the entire league.  In the win the Grizz got 28 points from PF Jaren Jackson JR, 20 points 10 rebounds and 10 assists from the best backup PG in the league Tyus Jones (nice triple double), and 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists from SG Desmond Bane.  bench player Luke Kannard is beginning to show his worth for the Grizzlies and that actually might be a portent of bad things to come.  There is nothing wrong with Luke.. but when any team has relied on his offense off the bench they have also suffered from his defensive weakness when he is on the court.

Golden State Warriors VS Memphis Grizzlies Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, March 18th is…. Warriors 123 - Grizzlies 119

Bet on the Warriors. With C Steven Adams still missing time in Memphis.. It makes it a whole lot easier for Draymond Green to play at Center… that makes it a whale lot easier for Curry and Jlay to drop a combined 55+ points.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis is 7-1 ATS versus Golden State in Memphis the last 3 seasons.
Memphis is 11-6 ATS versus Golden State over all the last 3 seasons.
The Warriors are 1-8 ATS as a road underdog of 6 or less points this season.

Players To Watch

Warriors: SF Donte DiVincenzo.  Dante has been a very useful piece for the Warriors since coming over from the Bucks.  He can score enough to dull the pain of an absent Andrew Wiggins.. Plus Donte is mobile and versatile… he can rotate to the edge for shots or take the ball to the rim.

Grizzlies: PG Tyus Jones.  Tyus is often touted as the best bench PG in the league and he may be… but his contributions are often off the bench following Ja Morant.. Which means the other team will be resting their top guy when they can.  The fact that Tyius got a triple double in the last game with Ja nowhere in sight lays claim to the fact that he should be a starter in this league.

COACH

Warriors: Steve “Lord of the rings” Kerr
Grizzlies: Taylor “juggling trouble” Jenkins
