Predators - Kings preview, prediction and analysis

On March 11, 2023, the Nashville Predators and Los Angeles Kings will face off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, but they will be looking to come out on top in this important matchup.

The Predators have dropped two straight games and continue a long road trip that has seemingly wiped away their playoff chances. Nashville is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes which followed a 4-3 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks. Juuse Saros and Roman Josi did not die for these sins and this is all the proof they need that John Hynes is not a quality coach.

The Kings, meanwhile, don't know how to lose lately with six straight wins and are coming off an impressive 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche in which Joonas Korpisalo once again kept up his incredible run of form now on a winning team.

In terms of special teams, the Predators have an edge on the power play, where they have been clicking at a 22.7% rate. The Kings' penalty kill has been solid, however, and they will need to continue that trend if they want to come away with a win.

One area that could be a factor in this matchup is faceoffs, where the Predators have a slight advantage. They are one of the top teams in the league in terms of faceoff win percentage, while the Kings have struggled in that area.

The key to victory for the Predators will be to continue playing their solid defensive game and limit the Kings' scoring opportunities. They will also need to find a way to generate offense against a Kings team that has struggled defensively at times this season. For the Kings, they will need to rely on their talented forwards to generate scoring chances and take advantage of the Predators' goaltending.

Overall, this game between the Predators and Kings should be an interesting matchup between two teams that are looking to build momentum and climb the standings. With both teams having their strengths and weaknesses, it will be important for each team to play to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Fans should expect a hard-fought battle between these two teams as they compete for two crucial points in the standings.
