Wow! An Inter-league matchup between the worst and the worst. The dumpster fire and the leftovers. The perennially terrible and the perennially falling. Bad vs bad. Scum versus pablum. A minor league team in major league uniforms and a major league team that should be sent down to the minors. Awful has a smell…. It smells awful. That is literally where the word “awful” comes from. At a butcher shop the internal organs of an animal are all dumped into a bucket and called “Offal”... some people cook that junk… because they have no other option… That is easily the story of the Oakland Athletics versus the Washington Nationals…. A great big bucket of Offal. So why make a prediction here?... Ah Ha! Because of the Great Betting Opportunity. “When someone shows you who they are, believe them”... that is what this prediction is about. Both these teams have such “awful” numbers that you could set your watch to their terribleness. When they play with each other?... You can rely almost entirely on the pitching matchup AND who is playing at home. They will not disappoint while disappointing. Plus the betting lines will be sick because no one else will be betting on this one. C’mon… Let’s live like sharks and take a bite out of this swimmer.
The Oakland Athletics are 34 games OUT OF first place in the AL West. They are terrible. The Owner is relying on them being terrible to move them to Vegas. The Owner doesn’t feel the need to get any better than THE WORST ATTENDANCE in baseball. At a recent Oakland Athletics game a foul ball was drilled down the first base line and into the foul territory 2nd level stands. No one was sitting in the section the ball landed… also no one came running to retrieve the ball. A Major league foul ball just sat there on the ground among the chewed bubble gum and dust. Noone even walked over for it. I have never, ever, ever seen anything like it. A sad team in an abused city… couldn’t care less. They have won 6 of their last 10 games. They have been on a late season upswing after deciding to simply play “whoever” from the call-ups. They went 1-0 against these Washington Nationals, 2-2 against the swooning New York Yankees, 1-2 against the Miami Marlins, and 2-0 against the terrible Seattle Mariners.
The Washington Nationals have won 4 of their last 10 games. This team has become known for literally giving away great players to other teams. They aren’t more than 4 seasons away from a World Series title, but they are certainly more than 4 years away from the next. Trea Turner, Juan Soto, Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Max Sherzer…. All gone… all great. Rendon may be the worst on the list and I know 11 teams that want him now. Some of these were trades some of these were walks for more money elsewhere… in all cases the Nationals got worse and did nothing to fix it. The trades may someday pay off.. But not in a significant way considering how far in the dumpster fire this team is now stuck. They have gone 0-1 against the Washington nationals, 1-2 against the Cincinnati Reds, 1-1 against the Seattle Mariners, 2-2 against the swooning San Diego Padres.

Key Injuries
A’s: No one of any significance whatsoever.
Nationals: No one of any significance whatsoever.
These teams wouldn’t play good players at the moment whether they were hurt or drunk or healthy or signed long term or signed short term. The MLB draft is meaningless because it projects 3-4 years on the future… yet both these teams want the first pick in every round going forward. They stink.
Players to Watch
A’s: LHP Ken Wadichuk, o.oo, 0-09, 0.00, 000000… Doo you get it? It;s a kid barely 24 years old being brought up to throw a few innings.
Nat’s: TBD… They are scrambling to find their own Ken Wadichuk.
