LET’S PLAY TWO!!  With the MLBs return to baseball from the All-Star break we will get two doubleheaders on an anemic Thursday schedule. It doesn’t help matters that among them is the awful Detroit Tigers versus the Worst Team In Baseball the Oakland Athletics.  It is the sort of doubleheader that gives me the spoiled stomach feeling.  I won’t be watching… but man oh man… I will be betting!  Betting on terrible teams is waaaaay more reliable than betting on good teams.  The Detroit Tigers are awful because they are bad in the worst division in all of baseball.  They are unforgivingly bad.  The Oakland Athletics are bad because they are simply the worst team in baseball.  The A’s have the worst owner in all of baseball… a guy who knows that if he spends NO money on his team… he will come out ahead of the game regardless of the terrible record.  If the A’s cost him nothing to run versus his split of the TV contract?... Then the franchise itself will gain hundreds of millions of dollars in value in a future sale over each 5-7 year period?... Then he gets away with it.  The only prerequisite to this value gain is owning a pro sports franchise in North America. The A’s are setting all time low records for attendance… the reward will ultimately be permission to move to Las Vegas… along with a multi-billion dollar valuation in a sale to a new owner.  The A’s are why even though the MLB has no spending ceiling… they should have a spending floor.  Owners should never be allowed to own a team while not putting a competitive roster on the field.

This prediction covers Game 1 of the doubleheader between the Tigers and the A’s.  DO NOT parlay these predictions as these teams are capable of dropping games to anybody… but the numbers will provide us with the most likely outcome.  So read both predictions and bet separately.

The Detroit Tigers have won only two of their last 10 games.  They are losing at a rate that is laughable with only the promise of the Oakland Athletics to relieve the tensions.  They are on a drastic 4 game losing streak… it’s only drastic because it was preceded by a 2 of six stretch.  They went 0-3 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 1-3 against the Kansas City Royals, and 1-2 against the Chicago White Sox.  The sadness of  a ten game stretch like this is really no longer felt in Detroit… as it is common with their football team and their basketball team.  In fact Detroit is now the losingest Sports city in the country if not the world… That is a lot of pressure on Cade Cuningham huh?

The Oakland Athletics have won only 4 of their last 10 games… but before you go thinking they are 40% good… please remember this has been one of the best stretches of their calendar year.  They are on a 2 game losing streak.  They went 0-1 against the Houston Astros, 1-2 against the Oakland Athletics, 1-2 against the Houston Astros again, and 1-2 against the Toronto Blue Jays.  This loser owner is actually laughable.  If his team was dropped into Triple A ball… he would not be assured of a winning season.  His stupid name is John J. Fisher.  The MLB are betraying your trust in fair, competitive balance by allowing this huckster to keep owning a team.  Remember the name “John J. Fisher” and remember the phrase “Should be voted out”... It won’t happen because billionaires support billionaires…. But after the fall of man… it’s important that none of you ever provide “John J. Fisher” protection from the elements… simply because he views you and your wife and your children as no more important than toilet paper.  Also it’s how you should start seeing the governing body of the MLB for allowing this sham of a team to continue.

Detroit Tigers vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

Our Prediction for Thursday, July 21st is….  Tigers 5 - A’s 1

Bet the Tigers.  Yes, I know that the Tigers are awful and terrible… but the A’s are worse.  The separation between divisions may make you a bit squeamish, but the A’s don’t tend to win the first game of any series.  Bet on the Tigers on the moneyline and take the easy win. Check back with us for a prediction on Game 2 of the doubleheader of dumpster fires.

Key Injuries

Tigers: C J. Rogers (elbow) Out ** CF A. Meadows (achilles) Out ** Plus 9 pitchers are missing due to injury… 4 starters and 5 relief.  These guys need relief but they don’t have any.

A’s: CF A Hand (hand) Quest ** SS J Bride (shoulder) Out ** 2B J Lowrie (shoulder) Out ** plus 1 starting pitcher and 4 relief pitchers.  We don’t even know if the missing pitchers for the A;s belong in the Majors at all.  So, their injury list is meaningless.
