Chicago Cubs Vs Chicago White Sox Preview and Analysis

Recent Form
The Chicago Cubs are 4-6 in their last ten games.  Logging 5 Overs, 4 Unders and 1 Push. They went 2-1 against the Cincinnati Reds, got swept by the Kansas City Royals 0-3, went 2-1 against the Colorado Rockies, and dropped the first game Friday night to the White Sox 0-1.  The season is over for the Cubs.  For your info they are just waiting for the season to cease.  Upper Level seats at a Chicago Cubs game should be free… but you’ll need Chicago White Sox tickets to go to this one… the Cubs are on the road in Chicago.
The White Sox are 5-5 over their last ten games.  Notching 5 Overs, 4 Unders and 1 Push.  They went 1-1 against the Oakland Athletics, 1-2 against the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-2 in a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, and took the first on in this series with the Cubs 1-0.  Friday was an epoch scoring display with the White Sox beating the Cubs 17-13!!

Offensive Analysis

The Cubs are 28th in the league in batting average .231, 21st in runs scored 551, and 11th in home runs 164.  The little bump they get from home runs keeps the Cubs from being the worst hitting lineup in the majors. It’ll be a hot Sun Aug and hopefully fans in attendance don’t want more from the cubs than the occasional solo home run…  because that seems to be the only things the Cubs are the seller of now.

The White Sox are 5th in batting average .253, 6th in runs scored 651, and 17th in home runs 154.  The White Sox are hitting like a team with 75 wins with six weeks to go in the season.
Defensive Analysis
The Cubs pitchers are 23rd in ERA 4.71, 16th in strikeouts 1119, and 26th in WHIP 1.39.  They were out of it by July.  On a daily basis the Cubs have to face the reality that they have a bad pitching staff with no run support.
The White Sox are 9th in ERA 3.75, 3rd in strikeouts 1290, and 6th in WHIP 1.20.  The White Sox are the flip side of the Windy City coin.  They hit well, they pitch well and they have 75 wins to show for it.

Cubs vs White Sox Prediction

The Cubs and the White Sox fans share a lot of things.  They share the bad version of pizza, the overdone version of hot dogs, lots of cold windy weather in the fall, and this Sunday afternoon nothing at all.  The White Sox are a winning team with a shot at the World Series if the playoffs break their way.  The Cubs are a losing team that has no chance at a postseason no matter what happens the last 5 ½ weeks of the regular season.
Our MLB prediction is White Sox 6 Cubs 2

Notable Quotes

"There's a huge upside and potential in there,"  -Cubs manager David Ross.  About his young pitchers not his team.
“I definitely think that's fair to say. I'm open and honest with everything that I say and do. And shoot, I've been probably -- not probably -- I have been the weakest starter in the rotation for much of the year,” - Dallas Keuchel, White Sox pitcher.
