The MLB All-Star game is an exhibition. The best players from each conference are assembled to duke it out in a made for TV battle. Some players choose to not play. Some players choose to shoot for the All-Star MVP trophy and go all-out! Prior to the game we have little idea who will win. DraftKings has not yet posted odds for the game… Some Books do not take action on the game. It is a fantasy exhibition. Yet underneath, there is a real baseball game. Since some Books do take action…. And since there is an actual baseball game going on… we will offer a prediction. The idea of gathering the best players to make SUPER-TEAMS should make the outcome a coinflip… however the American League has been ruthlessly dominant over the last two decades. The Yankees and Red Sox won 7 of the 20 World Series between 1998-2018… With the cheating Astros being in 3 of the last 5 (winning 1 by cheating) World Series between 2021-2017. The American League is stacked both now and historically.
The American League has been dominant recently and historically… That most likely has something to do with being the Conference of the Yankees. The team that started and maintained the “spend whatever it takes” culture of winning championships in the MLB. Of course it is also luck that guys like 2-time All-Star MVP (2014, 2015) Mike Trout and 2-time All-Star MVP (1991, 2001) Cal Ripken were toiling for average American League Teams. Add those names to Derek Jeter, Miguel Tejada, Ichiro Suzuki, Mariano Rivera… etc… and you get a history of better All-Star teams. The Yankees and Red Sox won 7 of the 20 World Series between 1998-2018… While the cheating Houston Astros have been in 3 of the last 5 (winning 1 by cheating) World Series between 2021-2017. The American League is stacked both now and historically.
The National League is under real, actual pressure. They could use a win in the All-Star game! For God’s sake! The National League only recently leveled up to the American league with strong rosters on the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets at the same time! They still have a long way to go if you consider that the AL Yankees and Red Sox won 7 of the 20 World Series between 1998 and 2018. The National League hasn’t always been this needy of an All-Star win… They won all 11 games between 72’-82’... all 9 games between 62’-70’. So this thing may be cyclical?... What we do know is that the National League will be putting up a great line-up with great pitchers… and most bets will be even money anyway.

American League vs National League Prediction
Our prediction for Tuesday, July 19th is… National League 7 - American League 5
There is no reason to see a clear advantage for either side. Booth teams are loaded and will simply wait for a run to win the game. I will bet on the National League because they are due! That is it… they are due. If you can find me a “betting trend” that applies to this roster to the entirely different roster form just a few seasons ago… by all means. But my bet is National League… and the OVER
My bet for MVP: In a very crowded field with long odds on lots of guys… I will bet on both Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge in the AL… and Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts in the NL. I will not bet for MVP overall… it is too crowded an idea.

National League: Brian Snitker of the defending World Champion Atlanta Braves…. His coaching staff will include Nationals manager Dave Martinez and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.
Weather Forecast
Sunny. 86*, Humidity 53%, Wind 8 mph. A hot summer day for an exhibition game of the best baseball players on earth. Several All-Stars will feel the weather in LA and immediately wish they played there. Imagine warm weather year round that cools at sundown?... Pretty Great. Better than Chicago… better than Kansas City… way better than hot and humid Texas.
