Mississippi State vs Arizona Prediction

The current betting odds has Arizona listed as a 10.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Arizona was a terrible team last year with a 1-11 record but they have already matched their win total from last season after the first game of the year, and they looked really good in that game. They were in control of their game against SDSU the entire time and they racked up 38 points on a very good defense that has averaged less than 20 points per game over the last 3 seasons. They have a QB that can throw the ball very well and their running game was even very good. They do not have a lot of players from last season but they have made so many improvements to their team by doing that, and they all looked caught up and ready to go in that last game. Mississippi State also looked very good in their last game but they beat up on a bad Memphis team that was falling apart last season, and they played them at home in that game too. Now Mississippi State is getting their first road test here and Arizona might just be a team they overlook considering how bad they have been for years. Arizona is going to be a sneaky team this year as they are much improved in this 2nd year under Jedd Fisch, expect them to come to play against an SEC team here at home. The best way to place a bet here is on Arizona to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"The biggest thing [you do to prepare] is you try to have a game in the middle of a lightning storm and hope that you have a two-hour delay…when [the following week] you go precisely a two-hour time zone difference and play Arizona." - Mike Leach on prepping his team for this game against Arizona.

“We’re just trying to get this better today than we were yesterday. We want to do everything we can to make our last game our worst game and continue to try to build this program to where we can sustain playing a competitive football game week in and week out. That’s our goal, and whether that be in the red zone or with takeaways or with penalties, whether that be with points. We know that the ultimate goal is to score more than the other team, but we have a lot of work ahead of us to prepare.” - Jedd Fisch on his team coming into this game against Mississippi State.
