Twins vs Mariners Prediction

The current betting odds have the Mariners listed as a slight favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Mariners haven't been having a good season as they have spent most of it under .500 but they have been playing a lot better in their games lately and have a chance to go on a run now as they need to try and get themselves into a playoff position. The Twins haven't been any better this season as they are just barely over .500 on the season but do have the lead of their division just barely. Neither of these teams have had good offenses this season so the pitching matchup is going to be important here and the Mariners definitely have the edge in that department being at home here. They have Gilbert on the mound and Gilbert has been a solid starter for them over the last few seasons. He hasn't been giving up many runs in his starts over the last 2 years and he has been even better in his home starts. He will have no problem shutting down this weak Twins offense that hasn't been putting up a ton of runs all year, especially when the Twins have been a worse road team too. The Twins also have Gray starting in this game and he has been coughing up a lot of runs in his starts lately, giving up 6 runs in his last start too. The Mariners offense hasn't been great this season but they have been a lot better in their games lately and they will use this home series to try and gain some momentum to put them on a run. The best way to place a bet here is on the Mariners to win this game.

Twins Mariners Prediction:  Our MLB Pick for Monday, July 17, 2023 (9:40 pm ET start time) is Mariners 4 Twins 1.

Notable Quotes

“When you see the number of different innings where we put runs on the board, and you look at the scoreboard, you say that’s a job well done by the offense. It wasn’t an easy game for us to get through for a lot of reasons. But we stayed in it, and by the seventh inning we tacked another run on, then another run on. I was really pleased with the at-bats one through nine and all nine innings.” - Rocco Baldelli after his team’s win against the A’s in their game on Saturday.

“We’re not swinging the bat. It’s as simple as that. You’ve got to have more competitive at-bats, and we just got nothing going tonight.” - Scott Servais after his team’s loss against the Tigers in their game on Saturday.
