Grizzlies: 56-26, 2nd place Western Conference; 2-2 in the series

A Western Conference NBA Playoff Matchup that has rocked the whole playoffs down to the foundation.  #7 Seeds are not supposed to win best of 7 series against #2 Seeds… especially when the #2 Seed played an unstoppable game in the regular season after their star went down with injury.  The Timberwolves have been hot garbage for 15 years.  Pure, smoky, stinky, hot garbage. Yet they kept building… kept drafting, kept signing… and now all of a sudden the T-Wolves find themselves with a group of young, athletic, ready to win guys!  WTF!  When did that happen?  Their play this season simply did not tip their hand.  The Grizzlies have a pure great player in PG Ja Morant… they also found that SG Desmond Bane could be a legitimate #2 in just his second year… He is CJ McCollum… just in Memphis.  Memphis is deep after those guys with strong front court play… and quality backup guards.  What the hell, happened.  This series is 2-2! This series is a single game from breaking in favor of the severe underdogs!  There is so much tension I could cut it with the lousy $200 I’m up… and even that $200 is because I missed a bet at the deadline… and I would be down had I gotten to the app in time.  What should we think about this back and forth?... What do the numbers say?

The Minnesota Tiberwolves are 2-2 in the series and 2-2 ATS.  They stole Game 1 130-117.  It was shocking! It displayed a Minnesota team that was ready to play and a Memphis team that was looking forward.  It was also PG Ja Morant’s first game back after missing the last 3 ½ weeks of the season.  OK… so the T-Wolves then dropped 2 games and lost against the spread both times… order was right with the world… Then in Game 4 they not only stole another game… they snuck out of their own gym with a 119-118 win. Crowd going nuts!  C Karl-Anthony Towns had the postseason game that was resume worthy.  KAT had 33 points and 14 rebounds… KAT’s running mate SF Anthony Edwards dropped 24 points, 4 rbs, 4 asts.  The T-Wolves really put the test to the metal.  They have proven they can win on either court.  Will they win and/or cover this next game.

The Memphis Grizzlies are on fire and have no extinguisher.  Their talent at the guard position and PF Jaren Jackson Jr… has promised them all season that they would be in the Conference Finals battling for a spot in the Finals…. Except it;s the first round series and they find themselves 2-2 while returning to their home court for a game 5.  In their last loss SG Desmond Bane had 34 points… but their star PG Ja Morant went for only 11 points.  Ja suffered  a drought of shots that saw him go 4 of 13 from the field.  Ja had 15 assists, so that is good… but all those misses made for an odd sight.  SF Dillon Brooks hammered in 24 points on 10 of 20 shots.  When push came to shove they could have won this game with a simple made shot… but they didn’t.  The big problem for the Grizzlies was C Steven Adams has been benched for not having what it takes to play KAT… that is bizarre as he is the best bet the Grizzlies have.  If Adams is nursing an injury that they are not disclosing… or if he had a falling out with the coach… It makes a big difference!  Adams leads the team in rebounding and needs to be in there most of the game.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Memphis Grizzlies Game Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, April 26th is….. Grizzlies 120 - T-Wolves 110

The home crowd is warm and welcoming. The Grizzlies will feel the pressure melt away with every cheer.  The Timberwolves are great on offense.. They can really score, but their losing road record and their winning home record that got them here… displays a let down in big moments on the road.  The Grizzlies get the benefit of the doubt here because Ja Morant will not have another bad game… while Desmond Bane doesn’t even feel capable of bad games at this point.
