Season Record

Brewers: 95-65 (1st place, NL Central)
Dodgers: 104-56 (2nd place, NL West)

It is done.  For practically the entire 2021 mlb season the NL West has been a mystery of if and when The Los Angeles Dodgers would catch and surpass the San Francisco Giants?... They never did.  It turned out the Giants kept winning and as this is being written, there is 2 games left for each team with a 2 game lead for the Giants.. If the fluke of 2 wins for LA and 2 losses for SF happens, it would only result in a tie.  Mathematically the Dodgers can not take 1st place.

LA has the second best record in all of baseball with 104 wins.  They just so happened to come in second in their division.  So LA will have a wild card game to decide their seeding in the playoffs.

The Brewers have wrapped up first place in the  easy NL Central.  They don’t have to worry. They did take a beating as the St. Louis Cardinals went on a 17 game winning streak that included the Brewers, lit up baseball and set an NL Central all-time record.  BUt, they still have first place so no big whoop.

Nelly’s went 3-0 Thursday including cashing in our MLB Best Bet last night. We are 9-1 in our last 10 baseball picks for a red hot late season run, going 17-5-1 since Sep. 12. Brewers vs Dodgers Preview and Analysis

RECENT FORM
The Brewers are 4-6 over their last ten games.  They logged 5 Overs and 5 Unders.  They got hammered by the St. Louis Cardinals 0-3, They swept the New York Mets 3-0, went 1-2 against the St Louis Cardinals ( a win that stopped the historic streak), and 0-1 against the LA Dodgers.

The Dodgers went 8-2 over their last ten games.  They recorded 6 Overs and 4 Unders.  They went 2-1 against the Colorado Rockies, 2-1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, blasted the San Diego Padres 3-0, and opened the final three-game series of the season with a win.

Offensive Analysis

The Brewers are ranked 27th in team batting average, 12th in runs scored 732, 18th in home runs 193.  They have an Ok offense.  Nothing amazing, a few good hitters.

The Dodgers are 12th in batting average, 5th in runs scored 812, 4th in home runs 232, 4th in RBI 781, 2nd in walks 606.  The Dodgers lineup is a murderers row of hitters and sluggers.  At the trade deadline the Dodgers added Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals (he came over with a good pitcher too).. Trea is leading the league in batting average.  During Friday night’s game the Dodgers trailed the Brewers 5-1 when Trea hit a game-tying Grand Slam.  The Dodgers would go on to win.  Trea is a keeper.

Defensive Analysis

Brewers pitchers are 3rd in team ERA 3.42, 1st in strikeouts 1602, 4th in WHIP 1.17.  Whether it is the starters or the bullpen, pitching is Milwaukee’s strength.  A big part of the St. Louis Cardinals historic winning streak recently was that the Brewers have been saving and resting arms for the playoffs since the start of September.  So, the Brewers lost 5 of 6 to the Cardinals?.. They had and have a mile-long lead in the division.

The Dodgers are 1st in team ERA 3.01, 2nd in WHIP 1.10, 2nd in strikeouts 1576.  The Dodgers may hit homers and dominate at the plate, but the mound is the real strength… They have plenty of strong starters and quality relievers.  Perennial Ace Clayton Kershaw is not a part of the rotation this year and may be washed up for the postseason as he left after 1.2 innings, clutching his shoulder, having just given up 5 hits.
