Game 2 of this series.  The prediction for game 1 is ot and it is for the Dodgers… let’s check the pitching matchup and do it again.

A National league matchup between a disappointment in the NL Central and the cream of the entire conference. The Milwaukee Brewers have been strong over the last few years… and this season started strong… but after a soft summer they relinquished first place in the NL Central to the Cleveland Guardians.  That should be embarrassing enough, but is extra embarrassing knowing that the NL Central is the worst division in the National League.  The Dodgers on the other hand don’t have a challenger in the NL West… or in the NL Central… and only possibly 1 (The New York Mets) in the NL East.  The Dodgers win and win and win… when they lose it is a shock to the numbers where the Dodgers are the #1 hitting team and the #1 pitching team.  Earlier in the summer the only team in the Dodgers class seemed to be the New York Yankees… until they dropped 11 of 13 games at the same time the Dodgers won 11 of 13 games.  The Dodgers now sit in a class of their own. Most wins, most runs scored, lowest team ERA… and a powerhouse group of future Hall of Famers.

The Milwaukee Brewers have won only 4 of their last 10 games.  They aren’t what they have been, especially at the plate.  They went 0-2 against the Chicago Cubs, 2-2 against THESE Los Angeles Dodgers, 1-2 against the St. Louis Cardinals, and 1-0 against the Tampa Bay Rays (remember the Devil Rays, what was wrong with that?... It’s actually the name of a fish?).  The very encouraging thing for the Brewers is they have beaten the Dodgers twice in August… which puts them head and shoulder above all the teams the Dodgers have SWEPT!  So, the Brewers have shown an ability to rise to the occasion… and they did it at Dodger stadium.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 7 of their last 10 games.  This is actually a bad stretch for the Dodgers.  Two of the three losses were incurred by Ryan Pepiot and Andrew Heaney… two guys that lost starts to the Brewers and are young guys getting looks.  The Dodgers recently added Pitcher Dustin May back to the group after a long stint on the injury list.  Dustin immediately won his first start against the Marlins 7-0.  The rich got richer.  They went 2-0 against the Miami Marlins, 2-2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-1 against the Kansas City Royals, and 1-0 against the Minnesota Twins during that stretch.
