Miami vs Kansas Prediction

Miami is coming into this game as a 6.5 point underdog with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Miami has been playing very well in their recent games and they are coming off of a win by double digits in their last game. They have made it to the Elite Eight as a 10 seed and they have pulled off some upsets along the way as well. They upset USC in round 1 with a win by 2 points but then they followed that up with a win by close to 20 points against the number 2 seed Auburn. They have won 6 of their last 7 games and have been heating up the deeper they go into this tourney. They are going up against a Kansas side that has also been playing very well recently but even though they have been winning a lot of games, they have not been winning by a lot of points in their games. They smashed Texas Southern in round 1 but their last 2 games have been much closer for them. They let Creighton hang around with them in that game winning it by 7 points and they just followed up with a 5 point win against Providence in a game where they pulled away by a lot in the first half but let Providence creep back in the 2nd half. Miami has been playing very well and they will likely give Kansas a good challenge here, a better one than they have faced in the tourney yet. Kansas is the better team here and should come away with the win but Miami will keep this game close and cover the spread here.

Notable Quotes

“It’s probably not a great analogy, but it would be like playing a chess match and you start the match without your queen, one rook and one bishop. We were so short-handed. We only had six guys, seven guys. You can’t go up and down. You can’t develop the chemistry and the bond of players. You can’t learn the offense when you’re not even going against a defense.” - Jim Larranaga on his team this season compared to his team last season.

"Overall, it's getting better. Our first-shot defense was pretty good. They hurt us on the glass a little bit in the first half, but I do think we're more connected defensively than we have been all year." - Bill Self on his team’s defense after their win against Providence in the last round.
