NBA Standings

Heat: 49-28, 1st place Eastern Conference
Bulls: 45-32, 5th place Eastern Conference

An NBA Eastern Conference matchup between clear play-off teams.  The Heat are in 1st place and doing everything they can to cling there… The Bucks are coming fast though. The Bulls remember what it was like to be in 1st place… It was just two months ago that they sat there.  Then some injuries and some pressure and some exhaustion knocked them off the pedestal and they kept tumbling until now they find themselves at 5th place struggling to hold off the Raptors in sixth place.  It can happen that quick.  The Eastern Conference is so tightly bottled with good teams 1-6 that the final six games could put new faces in every spot in the standings… or it could all stay the same.  The games will be tight and the strength of schedule will weigh heavily.  Where should we put our $$?

The Miami Heat have won 5 of their last ten games.  They went 3-7 ATS during that stretch.  Miami is a good team with a great coach in Erik Spoelstra and a great leader SF Jimmy Butler… but they don’t scare anyone.  They have Bam Adebayop at the Center spot and a cadre of shooters… but they don’t scare anyone.  They have NBA Champion Kyle Lowry at PG… but they don’t scare anyone.  The reason they don’t scare anyone is they will have to face Embiid and Harden… or Giannis and his back-up dancers… or DeMar DeRozan with a stronger Center.. There are a lot of possible deaths for the Miami Heat.  The Heat need this win desperately.  The Bucks are chasing them down and they can feel it.

The Chicago Bulls have won only 4 of their last ten games.  They went 4-6 ATS during that stretch.  They have won their last two games against the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers.  Leading scorer SF DeMar DeRozan gets 28 ppg… leading rebounder C Nikola Vucevic gets 11.2 rpg… The team patiently awaits the return of PG Lonzo Ball.  They have other weapons and Lonzo is not an offensive juggernaut, a quality PG sure… but this current team was built on the concept of depth and oddly enough Lonzo’s absence stretches the whole team.  In their win over the Clippers, DeMar DeRozan had 50 POINTS on 17-26 shooting with a very healthy 14 of 15 from the foul line. The worst thing against the Heat is the idea that DeMar may be gassed after playing 40 minutes against the Clippers.

Miami Heat vs Chicago Bulls Game Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, April 2nd is…. Bulls 123 - Heat 120

The game will break open with yet another big performance by DeMar DeRozan.  The Bulls are at home where they soak up the love and severely over perform. SF Patrick Williams is getting some defensive feet under him after missing almost all of this season with an injury.  He will lighten the load for DeMar in short stretches.  That taxing of Jimmy Butler can only help DeMar.
