Memphis is playing their season opener here on Saturday and this will also be their first road game of the college football season. They finished last season with a 6-6 record overall and were 1-4 in their road games. They were also 3-5 in their conference games and finished 7th place in the AAC. They did not end their season off with a Bowl game as they were supposed to be in the Hawaii Bowl against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors but it was canceled due to a covid-19 outbreak. Their offense was averaging 438.3 YPG and 30.1 PPG while their defense was allowing 419.8 YPG and 29.2 PPG against them. Memphis is going to struggle to score on the Mississippi State defense here on the road and Mississippi State will be able to rip up this bad Memphis defense that has not made many improvements from last year.
