An NBA Game 4 of the first round Western Conference matchup between #2 Seed and #7 Seed.  WOW!  Game 3 really deflated a bubble in Minnesota!  The Timberwolves won the first game of this series.  The Timberwolves were on top of the world even if they dropped Game 2 to the Grizzlies… Then in Game 3 the Timberwolves went up by 26 points in the first half before the Grizzlies caught up… then in the second half the Timberwolves went up by 24 points before the Grizzlies caught up and won by 9 points for the win and the win ATS.  The Grizzlies are a real team.  The Grizzlies are deep, talented, defensive, still have upside, ready and experienced.  The only thing you can say about the Timberwolves is that they are deep… and have length.  

The Memphis Grizzlies are 2-1 in the series and 2-1 ATS.b b The first game loss is beginning to feel like an odd memory of something that happened to someone else.  In the last game (a win) SG Desmond Bane was once again at it.  Desmond had 26 points with 21 of those coming from the 3-point line. PG Ja Morant disappointed everyone by only scoring 16 points…. And then made up for it by having 10 rebounds and 10 assists.  If he keeps getting those numbers the Grizzlies will never ever again need him to score a 20 point game again…. Of course he will do both though. SF Dillon Brooks and SG De’Anthony Melton were both cold in the game… That is a horrible portent of doom for the Timberwolves… both those guys can and have gone off for 20 in big games… This is done without interfering with Ban or Morant or Jackson.

The Minnesota Timberwolves opened the series with a win and instantly felt ridiculous levels of joy!  That is the mark of a poorly coached team.  A best 4 of 7 game series is harder than winning the first!  In the last game (a loss) C Karl-Anthony Towns was terrible.  KAT scored only 8 points on 3 of 4 shooting.  The Timberwolves problem has always been (while AT has been there) terrible at including KAT while getting others to score arond him… It seems they are only capable of doing one of those in any given game.  SF Anthony Edwards is the clear star of the team… but KAT leads the T-Wolves in every major category.  PG Patrick Beverley did all his celebrating when he helped the Wolves beat the Clippers in the Play-In tournament… he has not lookedf the same since.  Dialing in for defense and then dancing all over the court should be reserved for actually meaningful games… otherwise you are just a knucklehead.

On defense they rank 12th while allowing 109.9 ppg… the stats illustrate a team that loves getting into a track meet and simply outsourcing you… but they also can ground you out in the halfcourt.

The Timberwolves are 1st in scoring with 115.9 ppg, 16th in rebounds with 44.2 per game, and 14th in AST/TO ratio with 1.8.  On defense they rank a lowly 24th… They need all that scoring to make up for allowing 113.3 ppg from opponents.

The Grizz will keep on pushing through.  They are unstoppable except in rare mishaps.  We will see them in the Conference Finals.  Bet on the Grizz... you know you want to anyway.
