NBA Standings

Grizzlies: 31-15, 3rd place Western Conference
Bucks: 27-19, 5th place Eastern Conference

A matchup of great teams in both the Eatsern Conference and the Western Conference.  These opponents are a great example of why the NBA TV schedule should be on permanent FLEX.  The Audacity of the NBA and their TV partners to put the Charlotte Hornets vs Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers vs Denver Nuggets on national TV while the Grizzlies and Bucks are on NBA League Pass is vomit inducing.  I don’t mean to be that harsh but when winning teams with generational players play each other I wanna see it on ESPN. I don’t want to see rudderless teams with injured all-stars play random mid-season games.  Giannis Antetokoumnpo is the real deal future HOF’er who will break records and always be in the playoffs if not winning rings…. Ja Morant is the NEXT guy.  He doesn’t play bad basketball ever… his future HOF and rings discussion is based entirely on his health… IF this is the guy we are going to get over the next decade… then make room for MVP and a fistful of other awards!  Ja is just that good!  Ja is making Zion Williamson look more and more like Greg Oden with every game he plays!  The empty feelings you have for the Grizzlies should be set aside.  Ja is parts of Kobe and CP3 stitched together.  Plus my inside sources in Memphis and in teams envious of Memphis tell me he is a real deal leader, student of basketball, and gentleman.  Give Ja health and he will rewrite some record books.

The Memphis Grizzlies have a deep roster and they found out about it by accident.  SG Dillon Brooks keeps going on and off the injured list, so Desmond Bane keeps getting minutes… Desmond Bane has played so well the Grizzlies should put Dillon Brooks on the trade block.  If they don’t trade Dillon they still have a young, great core on smallish salaries.  PF Jaren Jackson Jr is a shot blocker and contributes some offense too… C Steven Adams is younger (28) then you thought he was.. PG Ja Morant is the leader/allstar you would want to pay 40 million a year when his extension is ready…. And then the surprise: SF Zaire Williams, the #10 pick in the 2021 draft… he is ready… and if redrafted would go much higher than 10.  The stats Aren’t there for Zaire yet… but the big games are showing up more often… the year over year improvement is matched by the month over month improvement.  That is a starting 5 worth watching and rooting for.  The Grizzlies are now 9 wins over their last ten tries… the lone loss to the Dallas Mavericks was a fluke.  Plus few NBA teams win 10 in a row.

The Milwaukee Bucks are the standing NBA Champs!  Let’s not play a game where we worry about the team that won it all last season… let’s not play a game where we worry about the chances of a team with Giannis.  What we should worry about is Milwaukee has lost their last two-games in a row to the lowly Atlanta Hawks and the silly ghosts of the Toronto Raptors.  In fact Milwaukee has only won 4 of their last ten games. They are missing some players specifically C Brook Lopez and PG Jrue Holiday… those Are real players whom the team needs… still, isn’t there enough talent left to win at a better rate?... No.  The Bucks are deep… at shooting guard?... Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, and Donte DiVincenzo… AND Wesley Matthews… two of those guys have to go to balance this roster.  This team needs a much better backup Center than Bobby Portis, which would lead to better depth at Power Forward… which leads to better defense and better freedom for Giannis to play the driving lanes around the key… cause he would be a SF or Guard.  Anything less is a tilted roster.
