NBA Standings

An NBA Western Conference Second Round series, Game 4.  The death blow landed in Game 3.  The Memphis Grizzlies have been a great story all through the season.  A young team with several rising stars.  Some of the stars were heralded like PG Ja Morant and PF Jaren Jackson Jr… some were unanticipated like SG Desmond bane who was a super late first round pick and quickly traded to the Grizzlies and is only in his second year or SF Zaiire Williams who is young, but ahead of schedule in production.  PG Ja Morant had the world at his feet.  Beats by Dre introduced a rap song commercial that spanned a FULL MINUTE featuring the young star who is billed alternatively as the next Iverson or Jordan… Ja had ascended to heights rarely heard of among athletes… McDonald’s and Coca Cola (among several others) would begin the bidding process if Ja hit the next level which is either MVP or NBA Champion… during game three Ja tweaked something and immediately touched his knee… he tried to wiggle the kneecap side to side… I’ve played basketball at a less high level but the gesture was immediately recognizable. There is growing discussion of whether it was a dirty play and whether jordan Poole grabbed Ja’s knee and pulled it… whether dirty or not… Poole grabbed probably 100 million dollars out of Ja’s future bank account.  Everyone who has ever played basketball and seen that knee wiggle gesture Ja attempted knows what they saw…. Surgery will be required.  ACL, MCL… it could be either… In the NBA they both require 8 months to a year on the shelf.  Everyone keeps touting how wonderfully the Grizzlies played without All-star PG Ja during his absence this season (20-5)... but the playoffs are a different animal.  The Playoffs require that The Grizzlies without Ja win a series versus Steph, Draymond, Klay, Wiggins, and Poole.. With no breaks for the occasional game against the Detroit Pistons or Orlando Magic.  The series may be over.  The Warriors have the lead.  The Grizzlies are in pain.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 5 of their last ten games, including the last regular season game.  They went 5-5 ATS during that stretch.  In the last game they lost to the Golden State Warriors 142 -112.  Memphis PG Ja Morant had 34 points in 36 minutes plus 3 rebounds and 7 assists.  Once again an MVP candidate was left in the game long after it seemed to be decided which made Ja vulnerable to Jordan Poole’s dirty knee grab.  Desmond Bane got 16 points and Jaren Jackson Jr got 15 points.. None of it was enough… Once Ja got yanked from the series if not his entire career by Jordan Poole’s dirty knee grabbing swipe… Head coach Taylor Jenkins decided to put C Steven Adams into the game… Steven had logged several DNPs since the first round of the playoffs, he had 3 points in 5 minutes.  Expect to see lots more of Steven Adams as the team will attempt to go big to beat the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have won 7 of their last ten games, including the last 2 regular season games.  PG Stephen Curry had 30 points while dirty assassin SG Jordan Poole had 27 points.  It wasn’t enough for the Warriors to win the game… they ensured (through very dirty play) that they would coast through the rest of the series.   Coach Steve Kerr understands “Broke The Code” though he won’t have enough personal integrity to sit Jordan Poole for the rest of the series. SF Jonathn Kuminga became the youngest guy to start an NBA playoff game (at 19 years old) and though he looked lost on a few plays… he certainly played well with 18 points in 17:30 minutes of playing time.  SF Andrew Wiggins controlled the game despite having just 17 points… the man is involved in so many defensive plays that the Warriors have an in house replacement for Steph, Klay, and Draymond in Wiggins, Poole, and Kuminga… If Wiseman ever plays and reaches his potential?... The Warriors may stay a dynasty for the next decade.  A dirty dynasty now.. But who cares?

Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors Game Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, May 9th is….. Warriors 120 - Grizzlies 101

The Warriors' dirty style of play spearheaded by Steve Kerr and good soldier Jordan Poole have dealt a death blow to the Grizzlies chances.  Ja Morant will miss the game and the Warriors will stretch Desmond Bane too thin for the magic he created in the regular season to take hold.  You might as well take the easy money.  Warriors to win.
