Marshall vs Notre Dame Prediction

The current betting odds have Marshall listed as a 20.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Marshall impressed in their first game with a big win over a team from the FCS, but now they are playing a very good Notre Dame team that is ranked and will have to go on the road to play them. Marshall actually has a very good record covering the spread in road games and Notre Dame may not have a lot of offense in this game anyway with their defense being so good. They were able to hold the 2nd ranked team in the country at the time, Ohio State, to only 21 points last week and part of this great defense is due to hiring their defensive coordinator from last season as the head coach to replace Brian Kelly who went to LSU. Notre Dame is going to have a great defense this year as they always do but their offense could struggle to score points here. Marshall also has a very good offense themselves and if this turns into a game where Notre Dame has a big lead, they will likely pull their starters leaving room for a backdoor cover. Notre Dame is good but so is Marshall and they will play very tough in this game. The best way to place a bet here is on Marshall to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"We got a huge test coming up this week against a top 10 opponent. We get to go there and play in one of the historical college football atmospheres in the country. Coach Freeman and his staff have done a really good job of kind of keeping that train of Notre Dame football in the right direction. I know (last) Saturday night they played an unbelievable game against another top 10 opponent in Ohio State." - Charles Huff on his team’s upcoming game against Notre Dame.

“If the opportunity presents itself. Experience is important, but we’re not going into this game thinking, hey, we’re going to be able to play some guys that haven’t been able to play. We’re going in this game ready to go. This is a good Marshall football team that’s going to come in here and be motivated and ready to go against Notre Dame. That’s gonna be the challenge for this group.” - Marcus Freeman on pulling some of the starters if they have a big lead in the game.
