LSU - Texas A&M preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
LSU: won 41-10 vs. UAB
Texas A&M: won 20-3 vs. UMass

The LSU Tigers don’t have much to play for other than momentum. They’re already locked into the SEC Championship Game with the Georgia Bulldogs in two weeks. For now, it’s about getting to 10 wins and further helping any chances they’ll have to get to the College Football Playoff. But LSU needs one more win to ensure that when they visit the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.

LSU is coming off a 41-10 win on its Senior Day against UAB, and I’m not sure where Jayden Daniels is on the Heisman Trophy watchlist, but we might need to give the Tigers’ quarterback some much-needed discussion. Daniels threw for 297 yards and a touchdown while running for 111 and another score in what was a dominant victory for LSU.

Malik Nabbers caught 7 passes for 129 yards in a nightmare day for the UAB secondary.

LSU is at the point where it’s just fine-tuning everything. We’ve already seen what the Tigers can do when it comes to on the offensive side of the ball. Daniels has shown to be an important pickup for Brian Kelly and his offense. There were questions obviously about how Daniels would transition from Arizona State. Considering the entire offense was run around him, the same can be said for LSU at the current moment but clearly, LSU has more talent than ASU did.

That part is not debatable. What is debatable is if Daniels has enough in the tank to get LSU across the finish line in two weeks. Because all it takes is one big game, and this is obviously going to be the biggest game LSU has played to this point, for Daniels to make a statement and possibly ensure some last-minute Heisman buzz.

Fortunately for the tigers, they are facing an Aggies team that has underperformed in the greatest of ways this year. No one is going to care that the Aggies defeated the Massachusetts Minutemen in a college football game period people are going to care about what Texas A and M has done to this point, which surprisingly enough is not a lot this year under coach Jimbo Fisher.

No one is going to care that the Aggies won 20-3 on a senior day after losing so many games in a row prior to that. That includes a 17-point loss to Florida, a 3-point loss to Auburn, and a three-point loss to Mississippi. All of the blown opportunities and missed chances of having a great season have come back to haunt the Aggies at the worst possible time.

If you're even thinking of playing this game I would advise you to strongly consider going heavy on LSU. Whether it be the money line or whether it be with the points. Some books have opened up at 10 point favorites for LSU and that would seem to be a very reasonable number. You always have to factor in the trap game, but considering how the Aggies are not playing in a bowl this year, what more do they have to play for? The answer is not much.

Prediction

if it comes down to it, Daniels will find away in the second half to pull this game away. I have no faith in the Aggies, better luck next year, and may we all get ready for what should be a very entertaining SEC championship game. LSU by 21
