LSU vs Mississippi State Prediction

The current betting odds have LSU listed as a 9.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. LSU looked terrible in their season opener as they were embarrassed by Florida State in the 2nd half of that game but they bounced back with a huge win over Grambling State in their last game and they will have some momentum on their side now entering this 1st conference game of the season after finally producing some offense last week. Mississippi State is off to a 2-0 start this season and will have a bit of an advantage being at home in this game but they also barely beat a bad team like Arizona in their last game as they just won that one in OT and now they are taking on one of the better teams in SEC that was ranked 5th in the country entering the season and still has a lot of talent despite not being ranked as high now. LSU had their only win come against a team from the FCS and that is not going to satisfy them so look for them to come out strong in this 1st conference game of the year as they try to erase their season opener and be the team they were expected to be this season. The best way to place a bet here is on LSU to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I liked his demeanor. He didn’t lose his cool in some instances where he got his helmet pulled off a couple of times. He was being held … I think he’s growing. These young men are in a process of growing and learning.” - Brian kelly on Denver Harris after his team’s win against Grambling State in their last game.

“Winning (isn’t) easy. Half of the teams in the country lost today so we’re going to celebrate this one. I could not be more proud of the way that we attacked from the opening kick. Frankly, I didn’t have good enough plans as a coach. There was every opportunity to quit and throw in the towel and players overcame me as a coach. I’m incredibly proud of the resiliency of this team.” - Zach Arnett after his team’s win against Arizona in their last game.
