LSU vs Mississippi Prediction

The current betting odds have Ole Miss listed as a 2.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Ole Miss lost their last game to Alabama in Tuscaloosa and that was their 1st loss of the season. Their offense was terrible in that game but now they are back at home where they are a much better team and they will have an easier time against this LSU defense that has been giving up a ton of points to good offenses. They just gave up 30+ points to Arkansas in their last game and gave up 40+ points to Florida State in their only loss this year. Ole Miss was also good on defense in their last game and LSU really hasn't looked that good in their games. They struggled to score points against FSU in their 1st game of the season but even in their last 2 games they have been putting up points but not really pulling away from any teams. Ole Miss also has a really good offense that is going to be looking to put up a ton of points at home after that bad game last week and they will be able to shred this LSU defense that hasn't been good. The best way to place a bet here is on Ole Miss to cover the spread in this game.

LSU Mississippi Prediction:  Our NCAAF Pick for Saturday, September 30, 2023 (6:00 pm ET start time) is Ole Miss 38 LSU 30.

Notable Quotes

“It’s just the nature of two teams in proximity, playing for a rivalry trophy and a team we knew was going to play their very best — and they did. We were the last one to have the football and I wasn’t interested in letting Arkansas have another chance.” - Brian Kelly after his team’s win against Arkansas in their last game.

“Yeah these guys are unfortunately hard to run ball on. Some of those things in the first half, the run carries were very low handoffs, which was not totally by design. You're running RPOs, they played a lot of extra guy in the front, which requires him to throw the ball. Those numbers got out of whack there, not on purpose. You ain't just going to turn and hand the ball off over time and beat them in my opinion. You've got to be able to hit some shots and move the ball around and make the plays while they're there because they're not going to give you a ton of them.” - Lane Kiffin on his team’s run game after their loss against Alabama in their last game.
