LSU - Georgia preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
LSU: lost 38-23 at Texas A&M
Georgia: won 37-14 vs. Georgia Tech

It was right there for the taking for the LSU Tigers. Perhaps LSU just didn't wanna take part in the College Football Playoff because maybe it was too hard for them. Maybe the pressure just got so built up for the LSU fighting Brian Kelly southern accents that they just didn't wanna take part in it. And yes, we have to bring the nickname back this week because what LSU did this weekend goes against every conceivable crime against nature. If you win this game you are fighting for a chance to be one of the last four in for the College Football Playoff and if you would have beaten the Georgia Bulldogs, you would have gotten that opportunity.

Instead, LSU lays the biggest possible egg that it could have done last week against Texas A&M, losing 38-23. That loss knocked LSU down from 5th to 11th in the AP poll. Likely when the College Football Playoff rankings come out, LSU will be around that mark as well. And yet LSU, which beat the 7th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels, the 6th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, a very tough Arkansas Razorbacks team, could not beat a 4-win Aggies team when it absolutely needed to.

I want to put this in everyone's head just for a moment when trying to figure out how the College Football Playoff can go this weekend OK? Because LSU did not get the job done, there is still a possibility that Alabama could leap into the College Football Playoff. A 2-loss Alabama team because of these voters and this committee not wanting to take the risk to put them any further down, could still make the playoff if LSU somehow beats Georgia, if Kansas State somehow beats TCU, and if USC somehow loses to Utah.

It just boggles my mind that we are here on this day raving over LSU becoming the darlings of the SEC and even though they might not beat Georgia, they got there of their own free will, and they damn sure earn the right to compete for the conference championship. Instead, we witnessed Jayden Daniels go from potential dark horse Heisman Trophy winner to a gigantic pumpkin. Daniels threw for 189 yards and ran for 84 and LSU looked overwhelmed by the moment in the biggest possible way. And as a result, LSU could still win the SEC title still feel like they accomplished a whole great deal. But at the end of the day, they could still get Alabama into the playoff and that to me seems like the biggest potential crime you could ever imagine.

This is why I 100% believe that the Georgia Bulldogs are about to dominate LSU in this conference title game period now I understand that Georgia has not had the easiest route to get to this point. They have let alone a couple of games almost gotten away from them. Almost get away from them to the point where Georgia possibly could have lost and sent this whole thing into a tailspin. But at the end of the day, the defending national champions have found a way to end the regular season at 12-0 and will get the opportunity to win a conference championship, something they didn't do last year, and if they win we'll get a chance to defend their national championship.

And I'm telling you right now if LSU thinks that putting up just 23 points against A&M is something worth celebrating, LSU will probably get lucky to get close to 13 against Georgia's defense.

Prediction

port LSU out of its misery. They had the chance, no one cares about them anymore and this fighting Brian Kelly southern accents we'll live to see another day in some random bowl featuring a Gator. What a mess. Please God don't let Alabama get into the College Football Playoff. Georgia by 40
