Their season started off rocky as they lost to the Texas Longhorns but they have quickly recovered with 3 straight wins against the Nicholls State Colonels, the Ohio Bobcats, and against Georgia Southern in their last game. Levi Lewis played a great game as he completed 17/28 passes for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns. Montrell Johnson led the team in rushing with 61 yards on 13 carries but their run game was not too strong in that one. Dontae Fleming led the receivers with 70 yards and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions but no one player really stood out on this offense in that game. Zi'Yon Hill led the defense with 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones while Andre Jones had 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one and Asjlin Washington also had 4 solo tackles. Kendall Wilkerson and Montrell Johnson both had 1 sack each for the defense while Ferrod Gardner and Lorenzo McCaskill both had 1 combined sack in that game. Percy Butler came away with the only interception for them in that one. They have scored 122 points in their first 4 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 96 points against them. Their offense is averaging 423 YPG while their defense is allowing 412.3 YPG.

 

 

South Alabama is coming into this game with a 3-0 record overall and they are 2-0 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their first conference matchup of the season. Their season is off to a great start with 3 straight wins over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, the Bowling Green Falcons, and against Alcorn State in their last game. Jake Bentley played alright in that game as he completed 14/24 passes for 158 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Kareem Walker had a massive day in the run game as he led the team in rushing with 150 yards and 3 touchdowns on 23 carries. Bryan Hill also found the end zone on the ground in that one with 51 yards on 9 carries. Jalen Tolbert led the receivers with 54 yards on 2 receptions while Jalen Wayne was right behind him with 51 receiving yards on 4 receptions but other than that, it was a pretty quiet day for the receiving corps. A.J. DeShazor led the defense with 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Tre Young came away from that game with the only interception for his team but 5 different players on the defense were able to get to the quarterback for a sack. They have scored 81 points in their first 3 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 47 points against them. Their offense is averaging 358.3 YPG while their defense is allowing 291 YPG. 

 

After losing in their season opener, ULL has been scoring at least 27 points in each of their games. South Alabama has also been scoring over 20 points per game to start their season. South Alabama is still undefeated this year and even though they have played 1 less game, they will carry that record with pride coming into this conference game. Both teams will fight hard here and both teams can score points when they need to. The spread is a little large in favor of ULL but this will likely be a much closer game. The best bet to place here is on South Alabama to cover the spread here.

South Alabama Jaguars: Kareem Walker is one player to watch in this one.He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored. He is coming off of a massive game with 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. He is a big part of this offense and will need to be involved heavily if they want to win this game so look for him to get a lot of touches here.
