Season Record

Rams: 7-2 (NFC West)
49ers: 3-5 (NFC West)

Last weekend Matthew Stafford had his worst game of his time with the Rams.  He threw interceptions and got taken down in the pocket.  His day was practically over during the first half when Stafford threw two interceptions for Titans scores in 26 seconds.  The first was an odd flip of the ball to avoid being sacked near the goal line. Titans linebacker David Long snagged it and Titans QB threw a 2-yard TD pass on the ensuing play.  The next Rams possession from scrimmage, Titans safety Kevin Byard plucked a Stafford pass out of the air and returned it for a touchdown…. Yup, a pair of touchdowns off turnover on Sunday Night Football.  Somewhere Jared Goff (who was traded at the end of last season for Matt Stafford) was chuckling at his TV set.  Every team has bad games.  The Rams are still destined for the Playoffs and Matthew Stafford can still regain his form as an honorable mention in the MVP race.

The 49ers also had a monstrously bad day last weekend.  They faced the Arizona Cardinals who were without  star QB Kyler Murray AND star WR DeAndre Hopkins and third option WR AJ Green.  It was supposed to be an easy win over a weakened opponent who happens to be conference rivals.  Instead the 49ers got beat by a backup quarterback Colt McCoy handing the ball mostly to RB James Conner.  The Niners defense is supposed to be really good.  They have Fred Warner tackling everybody and Nick Bosa recording 7 sacks so far.  On offense they are playing out Jimmy Garopollo this season and trying to transition to Trey Lance when coach Kyle Shanahan deems him ready.  The 2021-22 regular season is a mess for the Niners… No one had illusions they were a Super Bowl team, but still 3-7 with 7 games left to play.. It’s tough sledding.

Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers Preview and Analysis

Recent Form
The Rams are 7-2 in the season while going 4-5 ATS.  They have logged 5 Overs, 3 Unders, and 1 Push. This is a road game for them and they are 4-0 in road games.

The 49ers are 3-5 on the season while going 2-6 ATS.  They have been the underdog more often than not and usually fail to cover.  They have notched 5 Overs and 3 Unders.  They are 0-4 in home games.

Offensive Analysis

The Rams are 4th in the NFL in total offense.  They are scoring 29 ppg on 399.3 ypg… that breaks down to almost 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing per game.  They will bounce back big.

The 49ers are 13th in the NFL in total offense.  They are scoring 23.1 ppg on 365.6 ypg.  Of course those numbers come against teams that do not have Jalen Ramsey in coverage and Aaron Donald coming from either the edge or the middle.  Jimmy Garappolo may not play or maybe not the whole game because of a leg injury suffered against the Arizona Cardinals… who will be at QB?

Defensive Analysis

The Rams give up 21.8 ppg on 348.2 yards per game.

The 49ers give up 25.3 ppg on 338.1 ypg.

Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday November 14th is… Rams 35 - 49ers 17

These mid-season matchups when a good team is coming off a bad loss can offer some really great betting value.  Take this small point spread and put everything on the Rams.  The 49ers are lost at quarterback and won’t solve that problem in the next few days.  A big win on Monday Night Football is a great feeling.  Take it when they make it this easy.

Key Injuries

Rams: LB Von Miller (ankle) Quest…   {Von is the big new addition that will be worked in slowly.  He is an addition with the Playoffs in mind.  His potential to after following Aaron Donald through the same side of the line could produce great returns… or he could just be extra depth on what is an already great Defensive line.}

49ers: QB Jimmy Garoppolo (leg)  Probable ** T Mike McGlinchey (knee) Quest ** S Jimmie Ward (quad) Quest, DL Dee Ford (concussion) IR

Starting Lineups

Rams: QB Matthew Stafford, RB Darrell Henderson Jr, WR Cooper Kupp, WR Robert Woods, WR Van Jefferson, TE Tyler Higbee, LT Andrew Whitworth, LG David Edwards, C Brian Allen, RG Austin Corbett, RT Rob Havenstein

Statistical Leaders

Rams

Rushing Yards: Darrell Henderson JR 562
Receiving Yards: Cooper Kupp 1,019
Tackles: Jordan Fuller 67
Sacks: Leonard Floyd 7.5, Aaron Donald 6  (Aaron is listed because he causes several sacks for teammates based on the attention he draws from the O-Line and whoever must chip block him to create a double team every snap)

49ers
Passing Yards: Jimmy Garoppolo 1,754
Rushing Yards: Elijah Mitchell 469
Receiving Yards: Deebo Samuel 882
Tackles: Fred Warner 74
Interceptions: Josh Norman 1

Coaches
Rams: Sean McVay.  The original boy genius of the current crop of young, dynamic, offensive minded, NFL head coaches.  He has his quarterback and it only cost the franchise players and 5 first round picks (they spent 3 first rounder to get Jared Goff… then 2 more to move Goff for Stafford).  It’s Super Bowl or bust time over the next 2-3 seasons.  They are all in.

49ers: Mike Shanahan.  The next boy genius in line for the title.  He hasn’t had as easy of a road in the NFL… the guy can’t win a home game to save his life.  He has a great life though… son of a legendary coach, grew up rich and now has an enormous salary of his own.  He has gone 34-41 since 2017.  Nice life if you can inherit it.

Weather Forecast

Mostly Cloudy.  73* for the day’s high.  Mid-sixties by kick-off. Humidity 62%.  Wind at 8 mph.
