Lakers vs Trail Blazers Preview and Analysis.

RECENT FORM
The Lakers have lost their last two games in dramatic fashion.  OKC Thunder were down by 19 points at one point in the 2nd quarter… they chipped away (LeBron didn’t play) and capitalized on Anthony Davis leaving the game with a sprained thumb (huh? Anthony Davis injured?... no way) and lost the lead and eventually the game to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his overlooked wrecking crew.  The Lakers are now 2-7-0 ATS on the season.  Everything says “don’t bet on them”. That’s why this Portland game will have so much certainty. The Lakers will win SU and ATS

Portland lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers last game… everybody seems to be doing it these days.  The Cavaliers are king killers at this point in their rebuild… they may soon be a playoff bound team.  Portland is 3-5-0 ATS.  They are 3-1 at home and 0-4 on the road.  They are a bad team that regresses to big games at home.  This bubble will pop against the Lakers.

Offensive Analysis

The Lakers are tied for 7th in the league in offensive ranking.  They have a score of 107.4… not great.  They have missed a few games from LeBron, Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, and Trevor Ariza… so in essence they are missing their star and their entire second unit.  LeBron won’t skip the Portland game.

Portland is tied for 21st in the league in offensive rating.  They have a weak score as it relates to their defensive score.  They are shooting an EFG% of 53.7, but their offensive rebounding percentage of 28% means they don’t get enough possessions to recover from missing that many shots.

LA Lakers vs POR Trail Blazers Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, November 6th is…  Lakers 123 - Blazers 111

These squads aren’t equal… The Lakers have been playing shoulda, woulda, coulda, NBA season basketball so far.  LeBron will play and set it all straight.  We can start ignoring AD and RW unless LeBron gives them permission to have the spotlight.  Melo is playing great and Dwight is only a role player because the 3-point shooters have made him that… he’s still a monster on the blocks.

Coaches:
Lakers:  Frank Vogel… He is a placeholder.  LeBron is the coach and GM of this crew.  As long as Frank can ride along and as much hardware and paychecks as he can gather is nice.  When he stands up for himself he’ll be gone… maybe to the Sacramento Kings to take over for Lame Duck Luke?
Trail Blazers: Chauncey Billups.  The right guy for this team and the right guy for this league.  If only the GM would finally trade Damien Lilliard and build a properly balanced team with CJ as the prime scorer. Chauncey could do some real damage as the real leader.  He has the skills, we know it from watching him all these years.
