Season Record

Thunder: 0-3 (Western Conference)

Oct is a weird month. The offseason is over… the preseason is over… and with each contest we wait for all the new-look squads to reveal themselves. I’ll break it to you.  The Thunder are not a second-round playoff team, they aren’t a first round NBA playoffs team… in fact they don’t want to win at all.  They started planning for the 2022 NBA draft in August and September as they watched their current NBA draft picks play in summer league and training camp.  They still want to sell tickets to games so they won’t ever say so out loud, but if they start winning the front office will move the winners for picks.  The Thunder are in full rebuild and you should never bet on them to win.  You do however have to be careful about the point spread.

The Lakers however hope for the NBA Finals and will play that way every night.  They have to slog through the NBA season, but once through will be contenders… they just have to overcome all the May-December matchups they will face.

Pacers vs Raptors Preview and Analysis.

RECENT FORM
The Lakers lost their opener to the Memphis Grizzlies 121-118.  Then lost game 2 to the Phoenix Suns 115 - 105.  They got their first win barely over the Memphis Grizzlies 121-118.  They are 0-3 ATS.  {They will play the Spurs Wednesday night before this Thursday game}

The Thunder lost all 3 games so far… right on schedule.  The Utah Jazz 107-86, Houston Rockets 124-91, Philadelphia 76ers 115-103.  They are just 79 games away from the draft lottery.  Fingers crossed!

Offensive Analysis

The Lakers are 11th in points scored.  They have lost but they have battled.  They are even 7th in FG%.  They just need to settle the roster and get some of those young inured bodies back.

The Thunder are 29th in points scored, only because the Pistons are after that same draft lottery. They are 27th in FG%.  Don’t bet on the Thunder this year unless it is a bet against.

Coaches:

Lakers: Frank Vogel.  Frank is the Head coach… and right now in the regular season that means something.  He gets to decide the starting rotation in regular season basketball games. He doesn’t pick free agents… that’s LeBron.  He doesn’t pick any NBA draft overall pick… that’s Lebron. He doesn’t decide who takes the technical free throw… that’s LeBron.  Oh… and he doesn’t really decide who is in the starting rotation because whoever LeBron doesn't fully trust will be on the bench.  So … Frank’s job is to cash a 5+ million dollar a year check and stay out of LeBron’s way.

Thunder: Mark Deigneault… who?  It’s some guy who looks like Ralph Maccio only younger.  He probably works for the money.
