Kings - Flames preview, prediction and analysis

On March 28, 2023, the Los Angeles Kings will face off against the Calgary Flames in what promises to be an intense and competitive game. Both teams are fighting for playoff spots and will be looking to secure a crucial win in this matchup.

The Kings have been in good form recently, winning four of their last six games. They will be looking to continue their strong play and move up the standings in the tightly contested Pacific Division. Los Angeles will be led by their star players, including Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, and Jonathan Quick, who have been crucial to the team's success this season.

On the other hand, the Flames have been struggling in recent games, losing four of their last five. However, Calgary remains in the playoff hunt and will be looking to turn their fortunes around against the Kings. The Flames will be led by their top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Elias Lindholm, who have been among the most productive lines in the league this season.

One area to watch in this game will be the battle between the two teams' goaltenders. Quick has been excellent in net for the Kings this season, with a .921 save percentage and three shutouts on the year. Meanwhile, Calgary's Jacob Markstrom has also been impressive, with a .917 save percentage and three shutouts.

Another key matchup to keep an eye on will be the battle between the two teams' special teams. Los Angeles has a strong penalty kill, while Calgary's power play has been among the most potent in the league this season. Whichever team can win the special teams battle will likely have a significant advantage in this game.

However, the Kings will be without one of their key players, as forward Alex Iafallo is expected to miss this game due to injury. Iafallo has been a crucial part of Los Angeles' offense this season and his absence will be a significant loss for the team.

Overall, this game promises to be a closely contested battle between two talented teams. Los Angeles will be looking to continue their strong play and secure a valuable win, while Calgary will be aiming to snap their recent losing streak and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Fans can expect a thrilling game filled with plenty of scoring opportunities, physical play, and goaltending heroics. With both teams fighting for crucial points in the standings, this matchup is sure to be a must-watch for hockey fans around the league.
