Wow!  Game 1 still has to be played but the Dodgers are having fun.  They won the last game against the Chicago White Sox 11-9!  It was a crazy offensive game featuring a manager goof that decided it all.  With a runner on base and Trea Turner at the plate… White Sox manager Tony La Russa (as lifer as it gets) decided to walk Trea Turner when Trea Turner hit 1-2 in the count… his thought was that “Trea Turner at 1-2 in the count against a left hander is harder to get out than Max Muncy at 1-2 in the count against a left-hander”.  La Russa may have been right… but when Muncy hit  3 run Home Run… It no longer mattered!.  The Game 1 prediction for this series is already out.  This prediction is for Game 2.  The bet is the same if you read this column yesterday!  The Dodgers will take it.

A National League West match-up between heated and hated rivals.  Last season this matchup was the SHOW!  Both teams finished above 100 wins… the Giants won the regular season battle by 1 game and the Dodgers won the playoff battle by 1 game.  Both teams are angry.  Both teams are perennially hungry.  The difference this year is that the Dodgers reloaded while the Giants regressed a little.  The winner of this battle last season had the privilege of going to the World Series.  This may be the case again if the New York Mets falter and if the Giants can find a second gear to pass the Padres with.  We can all ignore the Milwaukee Brewers… Those wins came from playing NL Central trash.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won only 4 of their last 10 games as they have come back to earth.  They went 3 Over, 6 Under and 1 Push.  They went 1-1 against the Chicago White Sox (with 1 more to play today June 9th), They went 2-2 against the New York Mets, 0-3 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and 1-0 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  The Dodgers have to be really careful at this stage of the season.  They are playing without much pep and the losses are mounting.  The Dodger injury list is loaded with Pitching which could be a big part of the recent problem. Clayton Kershaw, Cory Kimbrel, Dustin May, and Blake Treinen.  Still, what this roster has leftover would fill the starting rotation anywhere else.  Batting is not a problem with Dodger home run leader RF Mookie Betts leading off… but with 16 home runs wouldn’t it be better to bat him third?... The lead off should be SS Trea Turner who was a batting champ before joining the team via trade two seasons ago.  Trea has the highest batting average on the club with .303.  He has it in him to go higher… Wouldn’t it make more sense to increase the RBI’s by maximizing Mookie Betts home runs?...  Just a thought.

The San Francisco Giants have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They went 5 Over, 4 Under, and 1 Push.  They went 1-1 against the Colorado Rockies, 2-2 against the Miami Marlins, 2-1 against the Philadelphia Phillies, and 1-0 against the Cincinnati Reds during that stretch.  Ther Giants are also batting really well with former Dodger Joc Pederson leading the club with 13 home runs.  Joc has ditched the pearls, but not the launch angle.  Right fielder Luis Gonzalez leads the team in batting average with .322… and wouldn’t you know?... He also leads off the line-up.  Go figure?  You mean the guy who gets the most hits should bat first to produce the most RBIs?!  While still a good team, the Giants’ struggles in the standings could be because the pitching has fallen off a cliff from last season.  Chris Bassitt is no longer with the club and his toughness went with him.  One of the studs from last season Brandon Crawford is simply not hitting as well and as a result is getting patchy PH spots.  The former SS now plays behind SS Donovan Walton who used to be a second baseman.  So there are some growing pains.

Scott Rickenbach is 8-3 in the last 7 days of mlb picks for a profit of +$4,650… 25-15 over the last 30 days for a profit of +$8,270… You could have been following along.... Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, June 11th is….  Dodgers 6 - Giants 2

The Dodgers are officially on a roll thanks to Tony La Russa.  Good feelings do not go away just because the other team goes away.  If you follow this space I’m asking you to bet the Dodgers again on the moneyline. Betting on the Dodgers on the moneyline doesn’t pay big.. But last season they won 104 games… and this season they are on pace to get 105. Bet on the Dodgers.

Players To Watch

Dodgers: LHP Julio Urias, 3-5, 2.78 ERA, 46 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched.  1.11 WHIP.  Julio’s strikeout numbers are low but his WHIP is OK.  Maybe the 25 year old is ready for full-time starter status.  Against the Giants he will need to be.

Giants: RHP Logan Webb, 5-2, 3.54 ERA, 59 strikeouts in 71 innings pitched. 1.19 WHIP. Logan is a tough and reliable 25 year old pitcher.  The numbers that mean the most is his dominance in the Win column. 21-12 Career.
