Game 3 of the Dodgers/Mets series.  The Dodgers squeaked out a win in Game 1… We have predicted a Dodger win in Game 2 which plays tonight (Wednesday) because of the monster the Dodgers will be putting on the mound.... This prediction is for Game 3 on Thursday night.  It would be for the SWEEP if we go with the Dodgers again?… but very few teams have been able to beat the Mets 3 times in 3 days this season.  The Mets are not chumps.  The reason we are so high on the Dodgers is of course they just entered rare air!... The 2022 Dodgers have just reached 90 wins BEFORE reaching 40 losses.  At 90-38 for the season the Dodgers find themselves within range of mathematically setting a team record for wins in a season and possibly a division record, and maybe a league-wide record.  That would require many more wins… but that is what they have been doing…. Winning.  The Mets are worse off for having lost Game 1 since that was a Dodger bullpen game against the Mets’ ACE.  It only gets harder from there.

A National League matchup of the real big boys!  A fireworks show of talent.  A game where many of the players will be tipping their caps to the “other” All-Stars they rubbed elbows with in the All-Star game.  A big time, big fun, pissing contest.  The Los Angeles Dodgers are head and shoulders above everyone when it comes to wins… The New York Mets are the closest head and shoulders to the Dodgers mark.  These two teams are separated by 6 wins.  That is it.  Plus the Mets are at home.  So where is the Great Betting Opportunity?... It’s in the pitching, it’s in the numbers, it’s in the weather.  Let’s check all of those and make a prediction that will grow your bankroll!

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 7 of their last 10 games. All throughout August they have been dominant.  7 out of ten is their low mark for August.  The month does include a 13 game win streak.  They went 2-1 against the Miami Marlins (with one left to play tonight), 2-1 against the Milwaukee Twins, 3-0 against the Miami Marlins, and 0-1 against the Milwaukee Twins.  They have spent the whole ten games playing either Milwaukee or Miami.  The Dodgers got bad news that one of their 3 ACES (most teams don’t have more than one) Tony Gonsolin will go on the injury list with a strained forearm.  Hopefully that is not serious and doesn’t disrupt a potential best win total ever.  The Dodgers have the best hitters in baseball and that will help being down a quality pitcher.

The New York Mets have also won 7 of their last 10 games.  The Mets are having a season boy!  At 82 wins they are completely transforming the perception of the NL East.  The Mets benefit from the addition of Max Scherzer (although he lost his last outing) but the real deal moment… These Mets are top-five to 6 in hitting and top 5 to 6 in pitching.  That is a wonderful story of well-roundedness.  That is a wonderful collection of talent on both sides of the plate… Of Course the Dodgers are #1 in pitching and hitting… but the Mets are tough and at home.  They went

Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets Prediction

Our prediction for Thursday, September 1st is… Dodgers 7 - Mets 3

Yes, we will go with the Dodgers again.  On the Moneyline.  The Dodgers have stacked the deck with a pitching staff that sees no equal… even after losing Tony Gonsolin to a 15 day IR stint.  A SWEEP of this series would cause an uproar around the league… that is the best story.  Always bet on the best story.

MLB Betting Trends

Key Injuries

Dodgers: C Austin Barnes (personal) Out ** 3B E. Rios (hammy) Out ** CF K Pillar (shoulder) Out **

Mets: 2B L Guillorme (groin) Out **

Players to Watch

Dodgers: LHP Clayton Kershaw, 7-3, 2.64 ERA, 88 strikeouts in 85 innings pitched. 0.98 WHIP.  The 34 year old Clayton Kershaw is truly an ageless wonder.  His numbers are great this season even after having some nicks and dings that sidelined him to a couple brief stint on the IR.  He has power, control, and sage wisdom on the mound.  He is hard to beat.

Mets: RHP Chris Bassitt, 11-7, 3.34 ERA, 139 strikeouts in 148 innings pitched.  1.13 WHIP.  “C Bass” is tough… tougher even than the C Bass from Dumb and Dumber.  Chris took a line-drive to the head as a San Francisco Giant last season and didn’t miss much time.  He also did not return with a hint of a flinch.  If it were me I would haven't had the courage to return so quickly.  His numbers are good.  Not Kershaw good… but solid.

Starting Lineups

Dodgers: RF Mookie Betts, SS Trea Turner, 1B Freddie Freeman, C Will Smith, 3B Max Muncy, DH Justin Turner, 2B Gavin Lux, LF Joey Gallo, CF Cody Bellinger

Mets: CF Brandon Nimmo, SS Francisco Flores, 1B Pete Alonso, DH Daniel Vogelbach, 2B Jeff McNeil, LF Mark Canha, RF Tyler Naquin, 3B Brett Baty, C James McCann,

Manager

Dodgers: Dave “Is this heaven?” Roberts
Mets: Buck “we good now” Showalter

Weather Forecast

Sunny.  84*, Humidity 33%, Wind 13 mph.  “No chance of rain” says the weather man.  Hot and sunny, low humidity is perfect baseball weather.
