Game 4 of the Dodgers/Marlins matchup is set for Monday in Miami.  The Dodgers took Game 1 while the Marlins took Game 2.  The Dodgers are heavily favored in Game 3 (Sunday) and Game 4 (Monday).  The predictions for game 3 was Dodgers on the moneyline AND ATS… They are currently up 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning.  Let’s check the pitching matchup and make yet another prediction… I think you may already know what to do… but let’s see.

A National League matchup between a powerful force and a damp sponge.  The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their opening game against the Milwaukee Brewers spoiling my prediction percentage, which was nearing a personal best, then they came roaring back winning the next two games against the Brewers… on the moneyline, ATS, and hitting the over.  This landed my trifecta bet recommendation and two-game parlay recommendation.  It also personally made my nut for the summer… That profit goes into the long term savings.  The Dodgers erupted, scoring 22 runs against the Brewers in two games  (Tues, Wed).  And if you look at their results over August where they mostly won and almost always cover the spread… you may notice that that is who they are.  Winners and killers.  The Miami Marlins are the wet sponge.  They have enough talent to not be in last place in the NL East… but only that much.  They are only 2 games removed from being SWEPT by these same Dodgers and they lost their last game to the Oakland A’s… If the Marlins get a win they will need several quirky baseball-god things to break their way.  The Marlins can put up some resistance… but not a lot.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won 7 of their last 10 games, covering the spread in 5 of those 7 wins.  They are first in hitting and first in pitching.  It is rare that an active team has as many as 7 potential Hall of Famers given health and longevity, and has them on both sides of the diamond.  They have gone 2-1 against the Milwaukee Brewers, 3-0 against THESE Miami Marlins, and 2-2 against the Milwaukee Brewers.  It has actually been a real down stretch for the Dodgers… sure they have pushed their lead over every other team in the league, but damn!  They lost 3 games with this roster!  That must mean the Milwaukee Brewers have a good roster.

The Miami Marlins have won 4 of their last 10 games. Very few surprises and lots of losses.  They are bottom of the barrel hitters with some decent pitching on the staff.  These are good building blocks for a future because all it means is finding a few hitters to launch into a better atmosphere.  They are a kind of big market, so spending the money to bring in a few bats would drastically improve this squad.  They went 2-1 versus the Oakland Athletics, 0-3 against THESE Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1 against the woeful San Diego Padres, and 0-1 against the Atlanta Braves during that stretch.

As this series winds up the Marlins will be almost completely dry of pitching talent… while the Dodgers have a never ending crop of stud pitchers.  In fact that Dodger crop is still growing , multiple quality Dodger pitchers, both starters and relief, will be returning from the injury list this week… to join Dustin May (who just made his return)... The depth may end up confusing as how do they work in guys who haven’t pitched in months to the best rotation in baseball?.... Still the bet for Monday’s game is for the Dodgers on the moneyline and ATS.
