Season Record

Angels: 39-54, 4th place AL West
Royals: 37-57, 5th place AL Central

A battle of the worst we can find in the worst of places.  The Los Angeles Angels are a staggering disappointment in the Al West… The Kansas City Royals are a staggering disappointment in the AL Central… These American League disappointments have been disappointing for over a decade (both of them).  We hate teams like these.  We hate the owners of teams like this.  If you love baseball you hate, hate, hate these teams and owners and their cities.  They stink, they are trash, they are garbage, I can not find the words!!  However… When you bet on baseball you love the accuracy of their terrible numbers… and how there will be little to no surprises,  and how statistically the pitching matchup will really decide the outcome… and how the money will hit your online account very reliably.

The Los Angeles Angels have won 1 of their last 10 games. The Angels stink.  The Angels’ owner stinks and all the rumors among sportswriters is that the Angels players have quit.  They went 0-2 against the Atlanta Braves, 0-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 1-2 against the Houston Astros, and 0-3 against the Baltimore Orioles.  A long streak of players like Ohtani, Trout, and Rendon just waiting to be traded to a contender.

The Kansas City Royals have won 5 of their last 10 games.  They went 1-1 against the Tampa Bay Rays, 1-3 against the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-1 against the Detroit Tigers.  The Tigers are another very bad team and this Royals’ squad was able to land 3 wins off them… otherwise this stretch of games would have been as tragic as their season.

Los Angeles Angels vs Kansas City Royals Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, July 25th is… Angels 5 - Royals 3

The bet is for the Angels on the moneyline.  The Angels stink but you should always bet against Zach Greinke… the guy has no juice left whatsoever in his arm.

Key Injuries

Angels: CF Mike Trout (ribs) Out ** SS D. Fletcher (groin) Out ** 3B M. Duffy (back) Out ** 3B A. Rendon (wrist) Out

Tigers:  CF E. Olivares (quadriceps) Out ** CF M. Taylor (shoulder) Out ** C S Perez (thumb) OUT ** S A. Mondesi (knee) Out

Players to Watch

Angels: RHP Noah Syndergaard, 5-7, 4.00 ERA, 58 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched. 1.20 WHIP.  This name used to strike fear in hearts of batters… and at 29 years old it seems to be all over. It seems to be a fear free zone… will he get the run support?

Royals: RHP Zach Greinke, 3-6, 4.64 ERA, 42 strikeouts in 77 innings pitched.  1.33 WHIP.  Zach has seen better days… and even though he makes great money, if you gave him a time machine he would have signed for less with the Los Angeles Dodgers.  His stringy appearance and lousy sleepy eye look at the current moment would make you think that he has no spirit left in his body.  The man lost several seasons of games and reputation while with the Diamondbacks… and now he is on the even worse Kansas City Royals.  The man has lost his Hall of Fame shot… and needs some sleep.

Starting Lineups

Angels: DH Shoehei Ohtani,, LF Taylor Ward, 2B Luis Refugio, 1B Jared Walsh, RF Jonathan Villar, Cf Brandon Marsh, C Max Stassi, SS Andrew Valazquez, PH Michael Stefanic

Royals: C MJ Melendez, SS Bobby Witt JR, LF Andrew Benitendi, RF Hunter Dozier, DH Vinnie Pasquantino, 2B Whit Merrifield, 1B Nick Pratto, CF Kyle Isabel, 3B Nicky Lopez

Manager:

Angels: Phil “what’s going on fellas?’ Nevin
Royals: Mike “It’s not gas” Matheny

Weather Forecast

Rain. Wet. Silly. 74* Precipitation 90%, Humidity 87% (because of all the water in the air), wind 13 mph.  Will this game get canceled?  That depends on lightning and how old the umpires are.  Seriously, a 30 year vet is not ready for more rainy games and is quicker to call for delay and when it does not let up… Is quicker to want a Budweiser in the hotel room.
