Las Vegas Raiders Analysis

The Raiders are coming into this game after winning their home opener as a 4 point underdog against the Baltimore Ravens. Derek Carr played a great game in their season opener completing 34/56 passes for 435 total yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Josh Jacobs led the team in rushing with 34 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries, but they could not really establish a good ground game in that one. Darren Walker had a great day for the receiving corps leading the team with 105 yards and 1 TD on 10 receptions. Bryan Edwards also had 80 receiving yards in that game on 4 receptions. Denzel Perryman led the defense with 5 solo tackles and 5 assisted ones. No one on the team had an interception but Carl Nassib recorded 1 sack in the game while Maxx Crosby had 2. The Raiders scored 33 points on offense and allowed their opponents to score 27 points against them. Their offense is averaging 491 YPG while their defense is averaging 406 YPG.

Pittsburgh Steelers Analysis

The Steelers are coming into this matchup after winning their season opener on the road in Buffalo. They came into that game as an underdog and came out of it with the big upset win. Ben Roethlisberger did not play that well at all in the game as he completed 18/32 passes for 188 yards and 1 touchdown. Najee Harris led the team in rushing with 45 yards on 16 carries. JuJu Smith-Schuster led the team in receiving with 52 yards on 4 receptions. Overall, it was not a productive day for the Steelers' offense in this one. Devin Bush Jr. and Minkah Fitzpatrick both led the defense with 6 solo tackles and 4 assisted ones each. No one on the defense had an interception in the game but it was Cameron Heyward who recorded 1 sack and T.J. Watt who recorded 2. Their offense scored 23 points in that game and they allowed their opponents to score 16 points against them. Their offense is averaging 252 YPG while their defense is allowing 371 YPG.

Raiders vs Steelers Prediction

The Steelers have a very good offense but Derek Carr knows how to run his offense and he does it very efficiently as he can move the ball down the field well. The Raiders are coming off of a high scoring game and will likely have another one here. The Steelers' offense was terrible last week but they were up against the Bills who also have one of the best defenses in the league. The Steelers should put in a better offensive effort in this game against this defense while Derek Carr and his Raiders' offense is always ready to score a lot of points. This game has over written all over it, especially at the total points number that the current betting odds have posted.

Players to Watch

Las Vegas Raiders: Tight end Darren Waller is one player to watch in this game. He leads his team in receiving yards and was a pretty big target for Carr to throw to in some key moments. Look for him to make some clutch plays on 3rd down and near the end zone.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Rookie Najee Harris is one player to watch in this game. He has now played in 1 game and has learned how the offense runs in a real game. Expect him to make some adjustments and have a bigger game here as he looks to have a breakout season and make a name for himself.

Notable Quotes

"We anticipate that a little bit, right? The bumps in the road the offense is going to have, the newness. We expect our defense to have to carry us. I told them that afterward, we appreciated their efforts, appreciated what they do, not losing faith in us." - Ben Roethlisberger on a weak offensive effort in their last game.
