Raiders vs Broncos Prediction

The current betting odds have the Raiders listed as a 4 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Raiders weren't great last season with their 6-11 record overall but they will be looking to take a big step this season with coach McDaniels now in his 2nd season with the team. They still have a lot of weapons on the offense and now they have a new starting QB in Jimmy G who has played for McDaniels in the past and knows the system very well. The Broncos were also terrible last season with their 5-12 record overall and now they have a new head coach as Sean Payton is starting his tenure there. Wilson is still at QB and will be looking to have a much better season than he had last year but the talent around him is lacking with no run game and a ton of injuries to the receiving corps coming into this one. Payton is a really good coach but he will not have this team ready to go in his 1st game as head coach, the defense is still really good and will keep them in this with a chance to win but the Raiders are definitely a live underdog to win this game outright as they have more consistencies on their team. The best way to place a bet here is on the Raiders to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"Yeah, I mean we've talked a lot about this time of the year. They're tough decisions and a lot of things go into them, a lot of discussions, a lot of people. We're evaluating our team and what would be best going forward, and just trying to look at everything from all sides and see if we can put together the best group that we can that gives us the best chance to compete every week. So, I think it's still a fluid process. There are still some things that I'd say are up in the air here relative to practice squad or those kinds of things. But right now I think we've tried to put together the group that we feel best about going forward, and I'm sure there will be some things that get tweaked here." - Josh McDaniels on his team’s 53-man roster coming into this new NFL season.

“The art of the 53 is sometimes protecting the most vulnerable or the assets you think would be claimed or signed. I think the mistake sometimes is saying, ‘Hey, we need five at this position, and eight at this position,’ instead of the right 53 in order to secure the roster the way you want it.” - Sean Payton on his team’s 53-man roster coming into the new NFL season.
