We're about to hit the fun part of college football season where games start getting a little tighter, performances start to become a little more noteworthy, and times at the books are fun for all. You don't believe me? Look at our own Kyle Hunter posting a 25-7-0 run over the last month in college football. That's even with all of the upsets and everything in between. Week 7 is upon us and we're near the point where college football is every day. You want to get back into the swing of things with this? Make sure to follow our Best Bets page and see what our champion handicappers are up to at bigal.com. Who knows? With a little bit of faith in us, you can be like Kyle, or even have as good a run as Sean Murphy at 32-16-1 over the last 30 days. The choices are yours!

Kansas - Oklahoma preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Kansas: lost 38-31 vs. No. 17 TCU
Oklahoma: lost 49-0 vs. Texas

If this was any other year, the matchup between the Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners would end in a rout for the latter because the pecking order of college football has always remained this way. But suddenly, it’s flipped and the team that might be beating Oklahoma next week is suddenly the 19th ranked team in the country. And as the Jayhawks visit the Sooners for the chance to become bowl eligible this weekend, all eyes are on Kansas because quarterback Jalon Daniels is injured.

The Heisman Trophy candidate sustained an injury to his throwing shoulder Saturday which forced him to leave Kansas’ biggest game of the season against TCU. Unfortunately, the defense fell behind the 8-ball for the first time and backup Jason Bean’s heroics weren’t enough as the Jayhawks lost their first game of their magical season, 38-31 against the now No. 13 Horned Frogs.

Daniels was just 5 of 10 for 89 yards and ran for only six before leaving the game with Kansas down 10-3 at halftime. Bean came in to lead Kansas to consecutive touchdown drives, but TCU answered with every conceivable punch. Bean finished with 262 yards and four touchdown passes and an interception, but he just couldn’t outduel TCU star Max Duggan (308 yards, 3 TDs).

"I'm proud of the way we battled, being down, losing Jalon," Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. "I think we left opportunities out there. I'd like to commend (Bean), the way he's handled it to be ready. If he is asked to be the starter next week, I'm very confident he'll have a very good week of preparation and take advantage of his opportunity to be a starter."

It was fair to expect that run wouldn’t last all the way through the season, but there’s still a lot to be salvaged for Kansas. The Jayhawks didn’t fall down in the AP Top 25 this week and are still very much in the conference race. And it absolutely helps that their opponent this weekend has completely fallen off a cliff with no chance at survival.

Man, what a fall from grace for the Sooners. There’s really no other way to put it. Since that loss to Kansas State three weeks ago, nothing has been the same. They got blasted by TCU in Fort Worth, and then in their biggest game of the year against their biggest rival, the Texas Longhorns, they more than just laid an egg. It was an absolute embarrassment from the Oklahoma program losing 49-0 to the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl.

I don’t even know how to summarize this game into actual thoughts. Oklahoma quarterback Davis Beville completed 6 of 12 passes for 38 yards and threw an interception. Running back Eric Gray threw an interception on the worst jump pass attempt in the history of college football. The Oklahoma defense gave up 585 total yards while the OU offense had just 195. It was probably the worst performance ever in the rivalry and the perfect summarization to whatever in the world happened in Dallas on Saturday. So much so to the point that even if Kansas had to throw Bean out there, this might be a week for it to happen.

"Shock? Nothing shocks me. This game will punish you when you don't do all kinds of different things, whether it's coaching or playing," Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said. "Our group of guys have been incredibly committed to what we've asked them to do. Maybe one of those factors if we need to be fresher. Look at everything."

May everyone start praying for the Sooners, because everything is falling down a spiral fast.

Prediction

The power of Kansas is too strong right now and I am not a fan of how Oklahoma has looked. Venables has been known for his defense. That hasn’t shown up, at home or on the road. Kansas is getting points to start. If you have the chance to get those points, I’d suggest you do it. Kansas by 14
