With Game 1 of this series being played Monday night, Game 2 is the game we are focusing on.  It will be played Tuesday night. This American League series is lopsided with the Angels dominating the Royals in most every category.  The one hitch to that idea is that the Angels have been very inconsistent over the last month…. Well inconsistent is not exactly the word… The Angels have been so bad over the last month that they are practically the Royals.

An American League battle between trash from the AL Central and castaways of the AL West.  Neither of these teams are any good.  There is no promise of post-season glories to come.  The American League has better teams in both divisions and a couple of better teams in the East.  So, what is it?  A Great betting opportunity?... Yup.  That is exactly what it is.  Vegas agrees.  Vegas has loaded the betting lines in favor of the Angels despite the Angels recent persistent losing.  The reason of course is that anybody playing the Royals has an easy, don’t screw it up day ahead of them.  The Royals are not only persistent losers, but losers over many recent years.  So let’s look at the numbers and then plant some cash and watch it grow.

The Kansas City Royals have won 5 of their last 10 games.  A good stretch of the season by Kansas City standards.  It helps that the A’s and the Orioles were in the mix.  The Royals are on a five-game stretch of hitting the Under… The fact that they are third worst in the league in scoring per game tends to help the Under.  They went 2-1 against the Oakland A’s, 1-2 against the San Francisco Giants, and 2-2 against the Baltimore Orioles.  It has been a lot of hullabaloo for a little .500 stretch.

The Los Angeles Angels have won 5 of their last 10 games.  Yet another bad team going .500 over the last ten games.  Neither vastly improving or terribly hurting their already bad record.  They are on a 3-game streak of Unders AND a three-game win streak!  They went 4-1 against the Seattle Mariners, 0-2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and 2-1 against the New York Mets.  The Angels were very lucky to hit a 5-game stretch with the Mariners and their luck keeps rolling in with a 3-game streak against the Kansas City Royals.

Kansas City Royals vs Los Angeles Angels Preview and Analysis

Offensive Analysis

The Angels are 15th in scoring with 4.39 runs per game, 13th in batting average with .234, and 167th in OBP with .314.

The Royals are 27th in scoring with 3.74 runs per game, 21st in batting average with .237, and 23rd in OBP with .302.  The offense has been really, really bad.

Defensive Analysis

The Angels’ pitching ranks 17th in the league in ERA with 3.92, 11th in WHIP with 1.23, and 20th in fielding errors with 38 on the season so far.

The Royals’ pitching ranks 28th in ERA with 4.97, 29th in WHIP with 1.48, and 6th in fielding errors with only 29 on the season.  It’s hard to make fielding errors when all the balls get hit over the fence.

Kansas City Royals vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday June 21st is… Angels 4 - Royals 0

The Angels are again the right horse to take.  The pitching matchup is about even… with the Angels having the slight advantage… which leaves the Angels favored in all the offensive categories.  Bet on the Angels on the moneyline.
