Are you not entertained by the NFL season one month in? What action we've had, and we're already down to the point where the 1972 Miami Dolphins can start popping champagne. Only three undefeated teams remain heading into the Monday Night matchup and there were upsets galore this past weekend. And of course, nothing was more electric than our own Wayne Root going 8-2-0 in the NFL this past weekend. So many upsets, so many big covers and backdoor covers, what in the world will Week 4 hold? Jaguars - Eagles preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Jaguars: won 38-10 at Chargers
Eagles: won 24-8 at Commanders

I’m not going to take many times to say a good bet was placed this week, but man, the Jacksonville Jaguars winning outright against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday might have been the play of the year to this point. So much money on the Chargers with Justin Herbert fighting through injury. The Jaguars aren’t ready for the big time yet, they say. Jacksonville may still be another year away, they say. Well, if they’re still a year away, you might want to get a bigger bag ready because they’re about to fill that thing up all the way with groceries. That didn’t make sense when I said it either, but you get the gist. The Jaguars are 2-1 and in first place in the AFC South after dominating the Chargers 38-10 on Sunday. Trevor Lawrence has needed that game for people to say he’s arrived. That might have happened on Sunday with Lawrence going 29 of 39 for 262 yards and three touchdowns, and Zay Jones catching 10 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. There was also James Robinson going for 100 and a score, the score being a 50-yard scamper to make it 23-10. Oh, and the Jaguars ended their 18-game road losing streak. Did we cover everything?

“I think the way we played you can’t deny that we’re that we’re a really good team. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what it says about us. We know who we are,” said Lawrence. “We played a complete game and to stack two weeks is big for us.”

The Jaguars followed an incredible 24-0 shutout victory over the Indianapolis Colts with an incredible win on Sunday, on the road, all to the delight of first-year coach Doug Pederson. The Jaguars scored three straight times to begin the third quarter.

“It’s everything for this team, and that’s exactly what the guys who have been here a while are talking about,” Pederson said. “It’s good to get a road win and to travel across the country like this. Hopefully it’s the start of things to come.”

You can’t help but love what the Jaguars are doing. This is a team filled with young, talented players that deserve our respect and admiration. We’re just glad Lawrence finally got it with the best start of his career.

And speaking of big starts, how about the Philadelphia Eagles? Maybe Jalen Hurts isn’t a bust and maybe the Eagles have all the talent in the world to be one of, if not the best team in the NFL. The Eagles are 3-0 and, along with the Miami Dolphins (pending the result of the New York Giants) are the only 3-0 teams in the NFL. And outside of a near collapse in Detroit, the Eagles have responded by holding a high-powered Minnesota offense on Monday Night Football, and then held the Washington Commanders and old buddy Carson Wentz to just eight points on Sunday in a 24-8 win. Hurts was incredible yet again by going 22 of 35 for 340 yards and three touchdowns, while Devonta Smith had 169 yards and a score on eight catches.

"By the eyes he might be a little slight, but he plays like a big boy," said Hurts, who might be the three-week frontrunner for MVP at the moment. "He's a guy when his number's called, I know he'll answer the phone."

Prediction

This is going to be a fun battle of defenses that should favor the home team, and that’s the way I’m leaning. If the Jags find a way to keep this close, they’re going to be in great position to not just cover, but pull out an upright win. I just don’t think the Eagles are at that moment yet where they will falter. They’re clicking in every facet of the game. Eagles by 13
