Iowa vs Minnesota Prediction

The current betting odds have Iowa listed as a 3 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Iowa hasn't been a very good team for most of the season but one thing that has stayed consistent for them all year is the fact that they have one of the best defenses in the Big Ten. Their defense has kept them in games with a chance to win all season, even against some really good teams too, and even when their offense has been terrible their defense has managed to score points themselves and keep games close. The Iowa offense has been getting a lot better over their last few games though and they are a lot better now than how they were playing for the first half of the season. Minnesota hasn't really been that great this season, they are in a position now to go to the Big Ten Championship because of Illinois starting to fade in recent games but Iowa can not only end their chances here with a win, but also put themselves in a position to win their division. Minnesota has been beating up on a lot of bad teams all season and they have had a very weak schedule in both conference and non-conference games. The only ranked team they have seen all season is Penn State and Minnesota got their doors blown off in that game. Iowa has been battle tested all season facing both Ohio State and Michigan at one point while this Minnesota is just a fraudulent team. Iowa has won 3 games in a row now and are starting to improve when it matters most. The best way to place a bet here is on Iowa to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"I said (to the players) in the Monday meeting if we were going to win this game, we were going to have to earn it. Don't expect any freebies, we're not going to get anything easy out of this. We were going to have to go out and win it, earn it, or we were going to go home sad. We've had a few of those, and they're not much fun." - Kirk Ferentz after his team’s win against Wisconsin in their last game.

"We rushed the ball 58 times. If we have to do that, we have to do that. Would I like to be more balanced? … Absolutely. But we've got to make the routine plays, and we've got to make the routine throws." - P.J. Fleck after his team’s win against Northwestern in their last game.
