Season Record

Astros: 3-1, 1st place AL West
Diamondbacks: 1-3, last place NL West

A battle of non-league, non-division teams.  The Astros are a dying dynasty.  They had the best of the league and they used it to cheat and steal.  The dipping play last season left them scratching their heads with what exactly to do.  They are still good maybe great… but they smell bad. Speaking of smelling bad, the Arizona Diamondbacks have been a horror show over the last several seasons.  No one likes them, they don’t win.  They finish close to last in both ERA and batting average.  That formula produces losses.  The Diamondbacks get losses.

The Houston Astros went 3-1 versus the Los Angeles Angels in their season opening series.  They went 1 Over and 3 Under.  The Astros lost only to Noah Syndergaard who still has the stuff to be an “ace”... he just isn’t at the moment. The Astros put up 13 runs on the Angels in the April 8th game… They won it 13-6.  They still have batting.  The Astros won’t and shouldn’t be allowed to avoid “boos” in every ballpark… They are cheaters in a bungled decision by the commissioner that allowed them to keep their rings and careers.  They feel it… keep booing everybody.  Yet if they can make you $$... Then lay your bet.

The Arizona Diamondbacks went 1-3 in their season opening series to the San Diego Padres.  The Astros single handedly helped the Padres get to first place in the ANL West to start the marathon of a very long season.  The Diamondbacks have been garbage for a few years now… to think they will turn it around without spending any big money over the offseason is to think “dumb”.  If the MLB operated like the NBA during the draft… they would have so many young high draft picks all over the field… but that is not how baseball works. Most draft picks never make the league.. The high ones don’t have a much better track record.  So whatever you do… do not root for your team to lose ever. It does not help.

Whether it's the SHORT (off a PERFECT 3-0 Monday sweep!) the MID (13-8, +$3,500 ALL plays L7 days!), or the LONG-TERM (SIZZLING 83-66, +$8,000 ALL picks s/ March 1st!), AAA Sports is "ON FIRE!" Now 8-4 (+$3,000) with ALL MLB this season! And looking back finds them on an ELECTRIC +$59K long-term NBA streak as well! The BIG TIME WINNING continues!..  Get AAA Sports’ picks all season!!… They are available right now at the Shop Picks page, where you can find all of the Best Bets from our champion sports handicappers.  Keep coming back to dominate these playoff games.

Houston Astros vs Arizona Diamondbacks Preview and Analysis

Offensive Analysis

The Astros are 9th in runs per game with 5.00 per game, 16th in batting average with .225, and 19th in OBP with .296.  They have scored 20 runs in 4 games with a ZERO in their lone loss.  Like always when the Astros get hot they stay hot.  Alex Bregman is up to it again leading the team in home runs, batting average, and OPS.  I wonder how he is stealing signs given today’s technology?

The Diamondbacks are 25th in runs per game with 2.75, 30th in batting average with .19, and 28th in OBP with .257.  The Diamondbacks have scored 11 runs in four games for 3 losses in four tries.  They do not have enough hitting… but then that is the same as last season.

Defensive Analysis
The Astros are 1st in ERA with 1.80, and 5th in WHIP.  It doesn’t yet translate as it is a long season and all four games have been against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Diamondbacks are 19th in ERA with 4.00 and 25th in WHIP with 1,47.  Not only does this teams pitchers stink… but they received no significant additions to the rotation. The defense is 23rd in errors with 3 already.

Houston Astros vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction

Our prediction for Wednesday April 13th is... Astros 7 - Diamondbacks 3

The Bet is Over.  The Diamondbacks will hit the bases against a team that can not stop them from getting the next hit.  If you parlay the Astros and the Over you could add value to the likely outcome.

Players to Watch

Astros: Alex Bregman.  You always have to watch Alex Bregman because he could cheat at any moment,... because the Atsros will take an mile if the rule book gives them an inch.  Also they will flat out cheat by banging garbage cans to signal the oncoming pitch.  Also they would curse an old lady for crossing a crosswalk too slowly.  Also they will and have and will always steal candy from babies.

Diamondbacks: Merrill Kelly.  The 33 year old right handed pitcher has 4 inning under his belt with 7 strikeouts.  His save was in the Diamondbacks only win so far.

Starting Lineups

Astros: CF Jose Siri, SS Jeremy Pena, 3B Alex Bregman, DH Yordan Alvarez, 2B Aledmys Diaz, RF Kyle Tucker, LF Chas McCormick, 1B Niko Goorum, C Martin Maldonado

Diamondbacks: DH Cooper Hummel, 2B Ketel Marte, 2B Sergio Alcantara, LF David Peralta, 1B Christian Walker, CF Daulton Varsho,. SS Geraldo Perdomo, RF Jake McCarthy, 3B Drew Ellis
